My cute Mama helped us all enjoy Memorial Day–year after year–for all the right reasons. This year, my babies and their babies found many of the sames things to love about the day…and we discovered a few new ones of our own.
On this Memorial Day 2011– I positively loved…
the ridiculous brand new snow on the foothills–one day before June…
the people who matter most to me–the ones right here, and the ones just a breath away….
the beautiful flowers…always, always–the beautiful flowers…
the ones who love this day along with me…
the sharing among friends…
the tender moments that help little ones know who they really are…
the rain that fell just as we were leaving…
the hail that fell just as the rain was leaving…
the beautiful idea that there is a day such as this, set aside…
to remember.

As we drove to my 6-year old’s t-ball game last night, we drove past the cememtary. “How beautiful!”, she exclaimed. And she was right – the cemetary was an absolutely beautiful sea of flowers.
When we drove past a cemetery on Tuesday, Mallory told her friend that weddings also happen there because of all the flowers. I had to explain to her what all the flowers meant. It was pretty cute.
It’s such a good day for teaching such lovely things. The babies really do “get it” better than we think sometimes.

LOVE Memorial Day. Even though I haven’t been home for that weekend in some time, I still have a visit a cemetery somewhere. It just wouldn’t feel right otherwise!
Memorial Day is great. I think about some of my favorite people who are on the other side a lot, but I LOVE having a day especially made to stop what I’m doing and honor them. It’s great having time to spend with family as well! 🙂
