What Do You Know…

for sure?

That question has become a favorite tagline in the Oprah Magazine–where each month she does a write up called–What I Know For Sure. Reading her top ten affirmations really got my head racing to come to at least one of my own. Of course, I agree for the most part, with what Miss Winfrey has to say, but my own, most heartfelt belief is blatantly missing from her list.  It is this:

“Motherhood is the most important work you will ever do in this lifetime and it has potential to be the most rewarding accomplishment you’ll ever achieve.”

I am impressed with how motivating her words are to me. See what you think~

Oprah’s “What I know for sure” List

1.  What you put out comes back all the time, no matter what.

2.  You define your own life. Don’t let other people write your script.

3.  Whatever someone did to you in the past has no power over the present. Only you give it power.

4.  When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.

5.  Worrying is wasted time. Use the same energy for doing something about whatever worries you.

6.  What you believe has more power than what you dream, wish, or hope for. You become what you believe.

7.  If the only prayer you ever say is “thank you,” that will be enough.

8.  The happiness you feel is in direct proportion to the love you give.

9.  Failure is a signpost to turn you in another direction.

10. If you make a choice that goes against what everyone else thinks, the world will not fall apart.

  1. I 100% agree with what you said. I love it! I know that past mistakes may hurt but they get absorbed into your soul and make you even stronger and better than before.

  2. Believe impossible things are possible. Live them when others tell you that you can’t do it. Soon you’ll find that you have to keep coming up with new impossible things to do… again and again.

  3. Interesting list, thanks for sharing. I just finished the Larry H Miller book “Driven” and was very inspired by the things he learned. Now I just need a little message board that follows me around and reminds me of what I’m trying to be better at – darn those habits and negative self talk that get us off course.

  4. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and answers our prayers. I know that there are things I don’t understand, but that He does… and that helps me to leave things to Him.

I love what you said about being a Mom… it’s an amazing job that I feel completely blessed to get to experience.

I like Oprah’s list too. I need to remember the one about not worrying! 😉 Thanks for posting this, it makes me want to be a better person!

  5. I love her list but your addition NEEDS to be there too. One on my list would be
“Do your best, Leave the rest, Angels ask no more.”

  6. “When the going gets tough the tough eat chocolate.” Okay so I made that up but it does help and hopefully my extra post wins me THE PAN.

  7. Wow, they are great quotes!! Thank you so much for sharing.Another great entry in your wonderful blog.
