Thwarted

If you know me–AT all–you know that one of my very favorite things to do on this earth is this…

and this…

and this…

and of course, this.

But with the colder temperatures that we’ve had lately, and all the snow and ice everywhere, I’ve added a little something to my winter wardrobe. It looks like…

this. While scurrying out to my car, I found a very slippery patch and crash landed in the driveway. Was quite certain I’d broken my hand. Luckily, I was just being a cry baby, and it’s only a bad sprain.

And sadly,Β  I’ve discovered something~

Creatures without usable thumbs, are at a terrible disadvantage to everyone else.

But I’m determined to fit that hook in there somehow and make it work.

Please wish me luck.

Oh, and you guys, please, be careful of those icy patches. No crocheting makes for a long winter indeed!

  1. I am glad it is not broken. Next time I will make an announcement about why I am going around the car. Just in case you didn’t see the ice. Sorry friend!

  2. Launi, I am so sorry, your work is so beautiful and I know that it is a terrible blow to have to sit and do nothing!! I wish I could crochet like you do. You are totally amazing. I really need to learn! Wish you lived close enough to teach me!! Hope you are feeling better today and find something to do that you love and can still manage. If it were me, I would so have my nose in a good old fashioned book!! Get better soon! I broke both arms once and I know how awful it is to not be able to use those thumbs!!

  3. So sorry about your hand. πŸ™ I’m glad you can type ok still! πŸ˜‰ It’s crazy how much you do with your hands/thumbs without realizing. I hope it gets feeling better quickly… and I’m glad that’s all that’s sad after a spill like that. Yikes!

  4. No way man…next time I’m hanging on to the walker I should carry around with me. Sheesh. You’d think I could keep my feet planted firmly on the ground. But nooooo.

  5. Both arms?! Oh, my goodness. That is just awful! Ok, I’ll stop my fussing. I have been checking our a few new cookbooks. heh, heh. So it’s time well spent.

  6. Wellll….the brace comes off to type. Don’t tell Dane. But I accidentally erase more than I type with it on. Mr. Thumbkin seems to handle the space bar just fine. The crochet hook…not so much. But I’m working on it.

  7. Awww man! I’m sorry that you sprained your wrist! I can’t even picture you without a crochet hook in your hand πŸ˜‰ Hey, look at the bright side — does that mean you can’t do the dishes? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ We love you and hope your wrist feels better soon!

  8. We’d make quite a pair right now – I’m sporting a lovely black boot on my left foot these days. My right foot slipped while going down the stairs a couple of weeks ago and well ya – I tore all the ligaments in my left ankle – sooooooooo embarrassing. I didn’t go to the Dr until this last Tues because I knew it wasn’t broken but the swelling was not going down and the pain level was going up. It’s the pits being slowed down from our usual always on the go selves – I share your anxiety friend. Heal up quick!
