Our Very Favorite Day

I can’t actually tell you why we do it.

Throwing blankets out along the curb on Center Street—days before the Summerfest even begins–

to save OUR spot along the parade route…

as though our lives depended on us keeping our yearly place…

does seem kinda nuts sometimes…

especially when you think…

heck–it’s only a parade…

with the regular horses…

decorated floats…

silly clown cars…

pretty girls…

and smiling babies.

But there seems to be more to this silly thing we do than just the carnival food…

and the lovely men in kilts.

I think it’s the warm, cozy, playing, laughing, eating, gathering family sort of thing, that makes us all feel so happy, so contented…

so very blessed…

that the only appropriate ending to such a day…

would be fireworks.

  1. We don’t very often have to bundle up against the cold in the middle of JUNE–but I suppose it just adds variety to our adventure. So. Dang. Fun!!

  2. Launi, wish I was there! It looks like way too much fun! I am not so good at sitting on the curb all day, but I sure love a good parade and it is so worth the four of five hours we have to wait for it here! our big parade is the fourth of July, and we have so much fun picnicing and waiting that it is truely an EVENT! Thanks for sharing.

  3. I heard the fireworks way over here! Way too loud for my taste! 😉 Glad you had fun.

  4. I can’t thinking of NOT going. Especially once we drag everything over there… it’s just too fun being there with everyone and “watching” the parade! I love it too! So great! Maybe SOMEday it’ll be warm! 😉

  5. Would you believe it if I told you I’ve never been to a parade? We talk about going every year and then never go. Maybe next year. 🙂 We did make it over there to all the other fun stuff. Anna LOVED the helicopter!

  6. That is an AWESOME photo of the fireworks! It was great to run into you–I have not forgotten our promise–we will be emailing our birth stories to you. I will remind Dustin to get his to you in the next day or two!
