Gracious Rain Blogiversary!

blogiversary

Now, I figure this is an event worth celebrating–wouldn’t you say? Maintaining a daily blog for one whole year has been a pretty wild experience–and very, very good for my brain. So, since this is my cute little blog and I like to think I’m queen of the whole world–we are going to have a celebration…my kind of celebration.

To thank you all for your kindness and comments, I’d just love to invite you over to my house for cake and ice cream, but alas, I’m quite certain we’d have so much fun and make so much noise that somebody’d get arrested…likely me. So I propose an alternative to anyone doing time on my account. Here it is:

Answer the questions: What has been your favorite post, recipe, or project on Gracious Rain in the last year? and What would you like to see us do in the coming year?

Get this—Each person answering both questions, between now and midnight, TODAY October 20, 2009 will receive a gift from Gracious Rain for our Blogiversary. It could be anything from my favorite book to one of our cute little craft projects all finished–just for you. Perhaps you’ll get a pack or Ding Dongs. Or maybe…just maybe, you’ll receive the very last ticket to the New Moon premiere left in the theater. You never know–until you speak up. Oh, and after you comment, you’ll need to send your name and address to Launi@GraciousRain.com. Yeah, I’ll need that.

It’s such a good day to celebrate.

I hope you’ll join us.

Thanks for being friends with us.

love,

If you’d like—Read the very first post–from back when we were pups and had no clue what we were doing. :]

  1. Happy Blogiversary! As far as recipes (and since I am a carb addict), I loved your Soft Pretzel and Breadstick posts. I also loved your baby Lamb craft post. It made me really want to learn to crochet so I could make something like it! Thanks for being so generous and allowing us to celebrate with you. Congratulations!

  2. Congrats! Wow…only one favorite…the one that really sticks in my brain is the felt ornaments from around last Christmas season. I love them and am even trying to make my own this year. Wish me luck! I have told you what I would like to see in the future…that potato soup thing that you used to serve in bread bowls since your daughter worked in a bakery. YUM!! If I don’t have much time in the morning (which is usually EVERY morning) I make sure I at least read your blog post first! Love ya, girl!

    Books arrive today!!!

  3. Oh yeah, and I would like to see more step-by-step crochet instructions. Or other fun crafts…I’m not picky. 🙂

  4. Congratulations!!!!! Since I am a newbie to your blog my details of older posts and my favorite do not go back that far as I also have not had too many quiet moments to sit and read back too far. My favorite must I say because it will be my kids favorite was the contest for the give-aways and we won the Webkinz. Thank you again so much. But I also really love the recipes (the great idea for cupcakes in the jar for treats for friends) and the fall pics with the color changes in the trees of the woodland creatures entry. I so miss the fall that we experienced in MI. Thank you for those pics. As far as what to see in the future – keep up the great job you are doing and your realness, I love it. Happy Blogiversary!

  5. Picking a favorite post is like picking a favorite movie – impossible for me!! I love too many VERY good ones! But I loved the little craft projects around Christmas last year – especially the little lamb. I loved the advent calendar out of gum, and the cute hanging snowflakes. I loved the ‘million things to be thankful for’ post – really helps put things into perspective. I also love the personal history prompt jar. I’ve yet to make it (I’m ashamed to say) but plan on giving it to my dad for Christmas. He’s getting up there and I’d love to document some of his memories and stories. He has a great memory right now, but he’s never been great at keeping a journal, so once he goes, so does a lot of his history.

So there are a FEW of my favorites. As far as seeing more, I’d love to see more crafts (which I’m sure are already in the works) more recipes (which I’m sure are already being tried and tested) and more of your wonderful perspective on life! More-or-less a lot of the same old, same old!! Love your blog! Love your posts! Love you!

  6. Happy Blogiversary!! Good job keeping it going for a whole year!!! My favorite craft had to be the baby pants out of old grown up t-shirts and my favorite recipe (even though you have TONZ of good ones) would have to be the funeral potatoes 😉 You know I love those!! For future posts, I would love, as someone else said, some more detailed crocheting tips/patterns, any other cute sewing projects and definately more recipes (keep ’em coming!)!!! You guys have it all under control — always good stuff!! Love you!!

  7. Well I LOVE your blog and read it every morning. Your family is wonderful and you are so creative. I guess my favorite post is a recent one about Halloween skirts. The orange with black stars and spiderweb trim really took the cake though and gave me a great idea to use up my own Halloween fabric stash. In the future I would love to see more of what your family is up to and more of your creative ideas in your blog.

  8. Dude! I wanted the elephant. thanks anyway. my comment was the funniest. hehehehe P.S. Love the cake

  9. i love all your blogs, my very favorite was the quilting road trip. Wish i could have gone with you all. My favorite recipe was the hotdog mummys. Very clever! I bet the grandkids loved them. I adore the crochet hats!! I am going to try my hands at one, one of these days, not sure who will wear it (maybe me!!)

I would like to keep seeing more pictures of the kids and grandkids this next year. I feel like i get to see them growing up.

Hugs and kisses to your girls (and boys) and the grandkids

  10. Congrats on making the one year mark! Sometimes it’s hard finding the inspiration to keep going but you seem to be full of ideas for posting still.

One of my favorite posts was your tutorial on how to make baby pants. I have yet to try it but I so want too. You made it look so simple.

I for one would love to see maybe one pattern for the adorable crochet hats you make, but of course I completely understand if those are top secret, since you do sell them.

  11. I too can’t choose just one favorite thing. Congratulations on a year- it has been awesome. I have so enjoyed getting to feel like we are a part of your life and watching every one grow up. Really really enjoyed going on vacation with you! I love the crafts and recipes. I would love it if you could find the recipe for honey candy that you used to make when we were in high school- worked better than any cough drops!
    thanks for sharing your life!

  12. First I think you’re doing wonderful with this blog–even from post #1.

My favorite post… has got to be either “Blink” on May 29th, 2009, how to make pretzels one, or when they snagged your blog to announce that you were an avid WoW player when that is just SO not you 😉

In the upcoming year I think you could have a few more guest bloggers. Maybe get some of the guys on here to talk about the more “manly” topics–sports, business, car care, hunting season. Or something like that. I definitely like the crafts and recipes, that was just the first thought that came to mind.

  13. Yay! Happy Blog Anniversary!

Well, you know how I feel about the felt Christmas ornaments, but the ice cream watermelon post is pretty awesome too!

What would I like to see more of? A bit more detailed instructions (or links to) for the craft challenged among us, aka me.

  14. Telling me to pick a favorite blog post/craft/recipe is like asking me to pick my favorite bite of chocolate…. way too difficult. I use your fried chicken and Brazilian limeade all the time… I love your cute little flapper hats… I want to make a special order someday of an adult hat with a cute flower on it… I also love all your bag bags and cute holiday treats!!! I loved hearing about New York!! And then there was the quilting road trip… oh that was amazing… I love your give a aways… I like all your blog posts that have pictures. 😉 ok just one… hmmm… I don’t know if I can… I guess when you did the give away for one of your bag bags… and joked about being bribed with Cheetos… and so I sent some home with Jillian cuz she was at my house that night and introduced me to this awesome blog that I have followed ever since that day!!

What would I like to see more of… I would like to hear more about your wonderful children… especially that cute blond one that used to live in my room… you know… Jilly!!

Happy birthday to your blog!! I do love your blog and it’s a great way to unwind after a crazy day of student teaching, especially because I know there is always something new. Thanks.

  15. Seriously??? Pick ONE favorite post, recipe or project? I can pretty much guarantee I’m one of the first to check in everyday (I had a quick look this morning before I dashed out the door to sub and I’ve been plagued all day with the question) and I have never missed a day – that’s right I’ve enjoyed all 365 posts. So, how do I pick just one? Not possible! I love your over all up beat attitude and outlook on life and the way you find the beauty and joy in the simple things. I’m still hoping to learn how to make slippers (I bought the yarn last Jan) so maybe some step by step tutorials would be fun.
Happy Birthday and hears to many more to come.
    Love ya

  16. Like everyone is saying, it’s hard to pick a favorite! I love the crafty ones, the cooking ones, the family ones, the Sunday ones… all of them. I love how your personality just bubbles through! And your pictures look good enough to eat!

My most recent favorite is the baby pants. I haven’t made any with t-shirts yet, but I used the general concept to make little shorts out of bridal fabric for my son’s baby blessing outfit. Everyone was impressed with my pattern-less sewing!

I would love to see more of the same! Since the holidays are coming, it would be cool to see more handmade gift ideas and yummy treat ideas, but I bet you’ve already got that coming!

PS- Congrats on 1 year of blogging! I’m impressed! Really impressed!

  17. I’m late… but now you won’t have to send me a prize!!! 😉

HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY!!! It’s been a fun and crazy year!!! It went by WAY to fast in some ways!

I love finally getting to try some of the new recipes that we’ve been saving up forever! I love that YOU are taking pictures now! I love that Baby Chomp will have some fun parts of her life from YOUR point of view, not just mine! I love that you are so creative and brave and share the new things you try and the new things you create with us! I love your blog… it’s awesome!!!

I can’t wait for the holidays, and the fun recipes and crafts we’ll still get to do! It will be fun to keep getting better at taking pictures! It will be awesome to keep having giveaways and adventures and parties… so we can have fun and make more friends!

Congratulations… keep up the good work… I love you!
