Chocolate Banana Freeze

We’ve been trying to eat more fruits and veggies around here instead of all the sugar that’s been kicking around these days–and it’s actually been fun. Don’t get me wrong, I can eat a Symphony bar with my lips glued shut, but right now, I’m trying not to.

So when this little recipe popped up on Pinterest, it would have taken a Mack truck to keep me from making it. Simple. Chocolaty. Frozen.

Save me.

No don’t.

Here’s how it goes…

Freeze 2 or 3 peeled bananas in a ziploc bag. Once they are frozen, cut them into pieces and whirl in the blender with 2 Tablespoons of cocoa. Work quickly and pour the mixture into a chilled bowl. This is a fabulous–no sugar added–fruity, frosty treat that is best eaten very cold.

In the time it took me to run for the camera, it was more thawed out than I wanted it to be. So I took one last taste and popped it back in the freezer, where it will stay until…

tomorrow…

for

breakfast.

Go fruit!

Heh.

  1. works better if you slice the bananas first! 3 to 4 bananas make about a pint. you can also add other fruit or peanut butter or whatever:). or eat as banana ice cream. once the bananas are frozen, i did not fine that they melted that fast. was like eating softserve ice cream. as one article i read on pinterest said, if you want to ”dip” for an ice cream cone, simply make it, then set back into the freezer until it hardens….we tried it and it was wonderful and healthy!

  2. oh and i wanted to tell you that i look forward to your daily emails!!!! i just love your posts and the other writers you have listed. being a country girl:), i love these wonderful informative and beautiful sites. again, thank you so much….and sundays was beautiful!

  3. I think mine melted faster because I had just taken the blender out of the dishwasher. It was probably warm. I’ve also wondered how this would be–when it’s soft–to pour over vanilla ice cream. I bet that would be fabulous…not as healthy…but better than fudge sauce. I’m not trying it, I just wonder. Must stay on the healthy wagon–must stay on the healthy wagon… :}

  4. Thank you soooo much for your kind comments. You have no idea how much they mean to me. The interaction from friends–new and old is the reason I do this, and sometimes it’s too quiet. Sincerely, thank you. :}

  5. When I was sharing it with Chompy I had to keep reminding myself that it was just a banana and that it was ok for her to keep coming back for more. :}
