Lacy Baby Shawl

Feeling just a bit clever right now. This last little while, I was in the mood to do something I’d never done before even if it was hard. You know how every now and then a project needs to be especially intricate and elegant to fit the occasion? That’s how it felt with this project. Luckily, as with most crochet work, once you get past the 3rd or 4th row, your fingers find the rhythm and the rest is a breeze…a lacy, lovely breeze.

Then there was the edging. “Do a row of crab stitches around…” were the only instructions in the pattern. What the heck is a crab stitch?! Had to Google it to find out, but I’m now completely in love.

Turns out that the crab stitch makes a curly, rope-like edge that lays flatter than most edgings are inclined to do and I just kept setting it out to stare at it. I decided that a row of single crochet inside the double crochet row, just below the crab stitch gave it the finishing touch.

If you’re feeling adventurous or in the mood to make something a bit, well, stunning–this may just be the thing. I used this pattern from Lacy Crochet.

Go ahead. Fall in love again.

Slipper Fest

004

Quite proud of myself for the supreme slipper fest that has been going on around here lately. The snow keeps coming down outside and in a house loaded with tile floors–well, let’s just say that we’re all wearing out our socks just trying to keep our feet warm. So, the slippers will come in handy. I even added elastic to the top of these ones so that the kids can put them on easier without needing to tie and untie them all the time.

Next up, a pair for the bitty-boy. We may just need to find a way to glue them to his feet though–as he seems to think that socks are an evil invention created strictly to torment him. I’ll figure out a way to make them work.

Just one teensy problem…

003

Santa brought me a pretty little distraction.

Mmmmmm…

I mean….back to work!

The Heart Bag

I made this for one of the little sprites quite a while back and realized that I never posted about it for some reason.

It’s a pretty little thing–don’t you think? I was surprised that it went together as quickly as it did. Which turned out to be a good thing because the pixie that was waiting for it, had a tendency to check on my progress every few minutes.

I’m hurrying…I’m hurrying. Sheesh.

Rainbow Chevron Bag 2

It isn’t very often that I make the same pattern more than once. But this one was just too much fun to leave alone.

So, with the one I made a few weeks ago–posted here –I obeyed the pattern instructions to the letter. Why, I even used the same colors that they told me to.

But this time around, I used Peaches and Cream Cotton instead of Bamboo…

and let pink have more of the spotlight. Pink is, after all, the most beautiful color in the world. Heh, heh.

So far, I’ve been grabbed twice and asked for the pattern by complete strangers and begged mercilessly for a black and pink one from a good friend. Sheesh!

Yeah, I’m thinking this pattern is a keeper and I just may need to make a few more.

Color suggestions anyone?

:} Oh, and the pattern is from Lion Brand Yarn and it’s called “Rainbow Burst Tote.”

Rainbow Chevron Bag

Yes, I seem to be on a lovely little roll these days.

A bright, cheery, colorful baggy sort of roll. I showed you a bit of this one a few weeks back when I was feeling proud of myself for learning this new stitch.

It’s called the Rainbow Burst Tote and rightly so. I found the pattern right here at Lion Brand Yarn.

Oh, it was loads of fun and I’ve already made a second one. If  you crochet, and IF you’re feeling adventurous–run out and grab some lovely bamboo yarn and give this one a try.  You might even make two.
