{ True Strength }

“I have always found that when we do the little things correctly, the Lord gives us the strength to accomplish big things… You might not always understand the reasons for some rules or commandments, but if you will follow them even in the little things you will have more strength to do big things… And you will have the great blessing of knowing that you are on the Lord’s side and that He is on yours.”

Happy Birthday Lyndi!!

Down In The Mouth

Today, my situation calls for gentle care—in the form of berry smoothies…

a bit of light reading (luckily, my copy of Rhythm of the Family came in the mail today!)…

anything lovely from the freezer—especially if it’s loaded with peaches…very cold peaches…

my recipe organizer–for future blog post planning…

heavy-duty ice packs… (are you seeing a pattern here?)

and a big old bottle of Lortab.

Had a dental adventure to facilitate future bridge work.

Ok, ok…I had three teeth pulled, and may I just say…dude. New experience for this old bird–and believe me, if I’d have had any top secret information that they wanted, I’d have given it…gladly.

But, truth be told, I’m incredibly grateful to live in the 21st Century where we have anesthesia, antibiotics, pain killers, and anti-bacterial hand soap.

But this very minute, I’m most grateful for the never ending supply of Otter Pops…

a special, life-saving gift from…

the Tooth Fairy.

I do believe in fairies.

Right Now

I am…

~wishing I was just a bit younger so I could play “dodge the sprinkler” with Miss Chomp on a hot summer day.

~anticipating all the magical things that can be made with a few old T-shirts…stick around and you’ll see!

~grateful that my children still find joy and friendship in a really good book.

~loving the very idea of fresh-from-the-garden cucumbers drizzled with a mix of Italian and Ranch dressing. You must try it!

~looking soo-soo forward to the new little ladies who are coming to live with us soon…stay tuned.

~longing for a bit more rain to water all the places I haven’t gotten to this week.

~deciding NOT to let Beany-the-quail-slayer out for the night…for obvious reasons.

Yeah, he’s on time-out.

~happy that my cute little–or not so little–nephew is home from Russia and that he’s amazed that Pizza Hut still exists and will still bring real, live American pizza right to your door.

~waiting, and waiting for a letter–paper in my hand letter–from my far away in Siberia boy–whose going to be in so much trouble if he doesn’t write to his mother very soon…and I mean it.

~marveling at the many newly discovered uses for a toddler cup holder.

~hoping that you too have a wonderful weekend my friends!

Tender Mercies or Grandmother Willow’s Bad Night

Remember a couple of weeks ago, when I just happened to mention that Grandmother Willow–the one in our yard–was a willful, unruly soul?

Well, last night’s windstorm taught her a thing or two.

It was actually pretty ominous to see the enormous…

heavy branches…

that were–not doubt–capable of doing some serious damage…

to a strong and sturdy house, or the not so strong and sturdy people inside it…

come apart in the middle of the night with a mighty crack…

only to fall and hover about 6 inches above a flimsy little wooden fence…

without doing one tiny speck of damage.

What an incredible blessing.

“Gratitude is born in hearts that take time to count past mercies.”

Positively Loving…

Teaching my favorite 3 year olds to teeter-totter without maiming  each other.

Discovering that there is still one more fabulous Harry Potter book to read.

Lily’s amazing, ridiculous, almost scary ANIME face.

Choosing my very own magic wand–Rosewood, with Unicorn Tail core.

Um…I mean, it chose me…heh…heh.

Spending the whole day watching my favorite 2 year old while Mommy’s away.

The character revealing hand I ended up with in our last game of Apples To Apples.

My sleepy looking, far-away boy heading out to Finland to have his visa renewed.

What about you? What are you positively loving today?
