This Day…

“I have never been able to think of the day as one of mourning; I have never quite been able to feel that half-masted flags were appropriate on Decoration Day.  I have rather felt that the flag should be at the peak, because those whose dying we commemorate rejoiced in seeing it where their valor placed it.  We honor them in a joyous, thankful, triumphant commemoration of what they did.”

  1. Happy Memorial Day! 🙂 I’m rejoicing in the memory of my sweet Grandma & Grandpa… and their family. I love holidays that help me think of their and their amazing examples. Love this quote!

  2. Those pictures sure brought back some memories. Those kids sure were cute wouldn’t you say? Now they are amazing adults with children of their own. Where does the time go? We had some great times with everyone at the Spanish Fork Cemetery. Sabrina

  3. Oh my word!!! I thought that I was short before, but never in my mind was I that short at such a young age!!! I really remember going here. I enjoyed going and rejoicing in everything. I remember all the flags in the veteran area and playing in the water trail. That was my all time favorite memory. I brought my kids there last year and was so sad that it really is not the same as I remember it.
Thank you for the great memory.
