Does anyone know what kind of flower this is?
Look closely. The first person who guesses correctly will win a prize. I’m not sure what yet–but of course it will be wonderful. Spectacular even.
Here’s a hint: It’s not something I ever hoped to see…ever.
Guess away–and I’ll announce the winner and the prize on Monday August 3 at 10:00 am.
Good luck my dah-lings!

Is it edelweiss? I know in the Sound of Music is refers to it as blossoms of snow – but I wondered if there was a pink variety. I always assumed it was a European thing – someplace I only dream about.
“Small, and whiiite. Clean and bright…” I’d love to see them in their natural habitat too. Someday…
Uh… sorry guys… wish I could help, but I think I missed that herbology class! :S
Where is Professor Sprout when you need her?
Here’s my guess:
WallflowerÂ
(AKA: Erysimum pallasii (Pursh) Fernald (?))
:o)
Brooke
Is there really such a thing as a wallflower? I thought that was just someone who didn’t get asked to dance.
It looks like wild radish blossoms
Hmmmmm…
I am going to make a few quesses. The Longleaf Phlox or the Honesty flower (also known as Lunaria). My dad couldn’t tell me what it was so, I did my homework.
I’m not surprised that even Andy–the best gardener in the whole universe–didn’t recognize this bud. It’s likely he’s never had to see it.
I have no clue. My mother-in-law says it is from the mustard family but no clue!
“Mustard? Let’s don’t be silly!” (Alice in Wonderland)
I t looks like the same flower from your button to me. Is it? I agree with Jan above that it really looks like wild radish blossoms.
It does look similar but the Gracious Rain button flower is a Periwinkle.
Ok I have another guess. Is it a flower that can be made into a drug? opium? Or marijuana has a purple flower?
No, no. Yikes! This is a family friendly flower.
ok I thought it was something you did NOT want to see ever so . . . maybe poisonous or something. I am glad it is family friendly:)
Yeah, I just don’t want to see it. Not willing to go to jail for it!
Since I can’t see the leaves, I have three guesses:
1. Dame’s-rocket
2. Honesty
3. Cuckoo-flower
What a bunch of cool flower names. Sometimes they don’t even sound real, do they? Dame’s-rocket? What the heck?
:]
SO WHAT IS THE ANSWER ?
Sorry I was a bit late on announcing that one. I was weeding…no, really…I was. It’s posted now.
Is this an Iris perhaps? Very beautiful indeed.
