Snow Day

Well, I had big plans to show you some fabulous cookies, or candy or a sewing project that’s in the works, but then this happened. Now you know perfectly well, that I love snow, but the problem with this particular storm was that it darkened the whole sky so that at around 3:00–it looked like the sun was on it’s way down. Under those apocalyptic conditions, the cookie pictures turned out dark and dreadful. The candy pictures are yellow and dull. And the sewing pictures…ok, I didn’t actually take any–because of the cookie and candy photo bust.

So, I decided to take you on a little tour of the new books that magically keep arriving at my door, from Amazon. I think that maybe I walk in my sleep and that I’ve been secretly pushing the “Buy Now” button…over…and over…and over. At least my sleepy self has good taste. This is “Warm Fuzzies” by Betz White, and it’s filled with lovely things you can do with thrift store finds. Oh, my kinda book.

Oooh-hoo–doesn’t this one look fun? Fellow blogger “Bakerella” has finally done it. Her book is stuffed full of the cute little Cake Pops that we made before only with tons of ideas to make them even cuter! Stay tuned!

Here’s another by Betz White–Sewing Green–again, making use of repurposed fabric and clothes.

I know, I know…Christmas is over. But there are some little Russian dollies in “FaLaLaLa Felt” that I’ll be soothing myself with very soon–once the Bald Kid leaves for Siberia. yikes.

Saved the sweetest for last. Now tell me honestly, wouldn’t this “Candy Babies” baby face be worth whatever is in this book? It was for me…so I bought it. Luckily, it’s a crochet book…and I can do that. I’m just saying…

Go on ahead, you old dark, and dreadful snow storm. As you can see, I have plenty of amazing things to do and I’m quite cozy in my little house where it’s warm.

So I say, “bring it.”

Christmas Lights

Isn’t it funny how you can put up all the Christmas decorations that have been stored away for months–but that magical, Christmas-y feeling doesn’t really sink deep into your bones until the lights go on?  That’s when it really hits me that it’s Christmas time again. We’re still in the middle of the decorating at our place–but I’m excited to see the lights go up.

Now We’re Talking…

Woke up to all this–at last, at last!

Finally, Mother Nature actually listened to my chanting and begging for snow—and turned Mr. Frost loose in our neck of the woods. Yee haw!

Of course, you know, my dream is to be totally and completely snowed in–when my whole family is home, of course. That way, we’d just sit around and play games, and cook ridiculously yummy things and goof around and be together.

You know, like the early readers always talked about in grade school.

“One very snowy day, Dick and Jane looked out the window. The ground was white. The sky was white. Everything, everywhere was white. There was snow, snow, SNOW! They could not go out. They had to stay in. There was too, too, too much snow!”

The perfect day for reading the new books in the basket,

doing a bit of old-fashioned Christmas card writing,

and especially dreaming of the jolly fellow with that big bag of toys.

“It’s the most wonderful timmmme of the year…”

Bring It…

Ok, so it’s November 5th and you would think that nippy weather and snow would be almost expected by now—even welcomed by some of us right? Well, of course, right.

But here’s the snafu–this picture was taken 3 weeks ago on a random snowy day, 1 day–wedged right in between weeks of 70 degree days, then, and ever since. In fact, it’s getting kinda creepy how warm it is right now. We’re in the Rocky Mountain for Pete’s sake! It’s November and I’m still wearing sandals and haven’t even put on my coat yet…not once.

Where’s the “Jack Frost nipping at your nose” thing that should be going on?!

How can we possibly get into the holiday spirit when it’s sunny and warm out there? Mother Nature–what are you thinking? You are confusing us all. Sheesh.

I speak for the snow lover’s of the world when I say, “We’re being robbed, and something MUST be done!”

Therefore, we will be out back all day, chanting for real, true, November weather to replace this ridiculous May stuff. Yes, I said chanting.

You are welcome to join us.

Bring your own cymbals.

Oh, and don’t tell my mom…chanting gives her the heebee jeebies.
