One Brief Moment
It may have been 1:30 in the morning–yes, yes, we were still up–when we noticed that after weeks and weeks of waiting…
it was actually snowing. Not a blizzard or anything, but a light, gentle, determined snow that sent sparking crystals floating every which way.
It reminded me of teeny tiny pearl white fairies flitting about in the dark. So naturally I stood all alone on the porch in my nippy bare feet snapping the camera like a crazy woman. That way, I figured that if, in the morning every trace of snow was completely gone, I could still prove to the world that it had happened in the first place.
Frosty hair. Chattering teeth. Frozen toes. Lovely snow.
Totally worth it.
Snowy Scarf
Finally, we’re getting a bit colder weather around here and it seems to be nudging our sleepy green leaves into turning. Not that I’m begrudging the strange, lovely October sunshine, oh no–but at last it feels more appropriate to begin working on a few little things for…dare I say…Christmas.
A simple double crochet grid pattern can turn into the most luxurious, fluffy, amazing thing–
just by using this crazy yarn.
This stuff feels like you’re crocheting with soft, squishy pipe cleaners. :}
And I can personally vouch for how warm it will be, as I had to keep moving the project off my lap every 10 minutes or so to keep from over heating! Pretty sure I could warm up some Eskimos with this toasty piece of work.
Which is good, because Autumn seems to be coming…
at last.

Pioneer Day
Maybe everybody everywhere doesn’t have a Pioneer Day to Celebrate…
like we do.
And that, my friends is a crying shame.
I mean, really–who doesn’t need one more reason to eat a barbecued hot dog from a fork?
Or to play another round of croquet?
Or to have a wagon ride through the meadow?
Or to just sit back and watch the summer wind blow in the trees?
You know…like the Pioneers did.

One Rainy Day
After days of rain…
the sun peeked out between all those clouds–for just a little minute. So Lily, Beckham and I rushed over to the school yard at the end of the block. We had the place completely to ourselves…
which meant that I could sit in the car with the doors open and just let them run and play. Yes, yes…I was being Lazy-Bones-Jones but they were happy–I was happy–so all was right with the world.
Then Beck rushed back to tell me something that he totally forgot by the time he got to the sidewalk…
and spied a row of teeny tiny ants–very, very interesting when you’re just 3 years old.
Very…very. And while he was contemplating the little critters…
Lily ran back to the car with some treasures of her own…
just in the nick of time!
:]
PS–the bald kid tells me–now that he’s left the valley–the rain should clear up soon. He swears it was only here because he and I love it so much. I guess we’ll see.
