Birthday Boy

So here it is. The very day that my baby boy turns into…a real, live grown-up.

Of course he’s been great big and quite grown for a long time–but the adult-thing is official now.

So I guess he can go to the theater on the other side of the world, without his mother if he wants to. Ha. Look at that poor little Russian lady sitting behind those two American grizzly bears. She should get her money back, cause she’s gonna miss this one unless she changes her seat!

Oh, he’s a good, happy boy and I love him so much. It’s been a million years since he left and to be quite honest, I’m missing him dreadfully. He’s doing a wonderful job over there in Siberia, but the best news is that on his next birthday, he will be back home at last.

Trust me, I’m counting down the days!

Happy 21st Birthday my sweet, silly far, far away boy. Be well. Be safe. Be happy.

We love you and miss you more that you’ll ever know.

Newlywed Housewarming

The newlyweds are back! After a lovely honeymoon cruise they invited us all–and I do mean all–over for a gift opening party. Wooohooo!

And these two cuties have a ton of wonderful friends, so there were a million gifts.

So many practical things that everyone needs when they are just starting out…

and some very sweet, personal gifts from some a few dear friends.

It was so lovely to hear the notes that friends and family sent in the STACK of cards they received. And they read every one.

When the youngsters were about halfway through all the presents, they took a break and made us Rootbeer and/or Creamsicle floats. I’m not usually a carbonated drink fan, but on a hot summer day–and with the right rootbeer (A&W of course!) I can indeed be persuaded.

Looks like we were just not entertaining enough for Magoo. He loves his Aunt April.

I asked my girl just today, what she thought of this married life stuff.

She said, “Mom, it’s positively perfect.”

Well, I’d say it’s your turn honey.

Funny how marriage just suits some folks–isn’t it?

Blessed Rain

After praying all week for rain–today, it’s RAINING!

Hope it snuffs out all those terrible fires.

I hollered to Miss Chompy that Heavenly Father answered our prayers and made it rain and she said, “We DID it!!”

What she meant was–HE did it. :}

Orchard Love

I saw this sweet little game online the other day, that reminded me of Hi-ho Cherry-O from when I was a kid. After looking closer though, I found out that it’s even better. It’s called Orchard and as you can see, even a three-year-old can play it.

First, you load the trees up with fruit–green apples, yellow pears, blue plums and red cherries.

Then somebody rolls the dice.

If you roll a color, you get to pick a fruit from the tree…

and put it in your basket.

But if you roll the dreaded crow, you have to take a puzzle piece that will put a picture of the nasty old bird together. Now then, here’s the good part–with this game, the kids are actually cheering for each other instead of duking it out, because the point is to pick all the fruit before the bad-guy crow shows up and eats everything. There’s no competition between players –only working together against the crow.

Isn’t that a fabulous idea? No, no, this is not a paid advertisement. I was just so happy to find such a perfect game for Miss Chompy, Lily and the Beck, that I wanted to tell somebody about it. And so you know, the kids and I have played the game about 25 times in the last few days.

Yeah, that’s us.

Playing till we drop.

Heh, heh.

Tell me~ have you every heard of Orchard? What are your kids favorite board games?
