Things To Love

right this minute… 021

Sorting through my 50,000 stacks of scrumptious recipes in anticipation of having a big fellow to cook for again…soon…hee, hee!

002

Trading out the futon bunk bed with the lumpy mattress, for a brand new, real live, grown-up, pillow-top, queen-sized, normal person bed…

034

with the perfect blanket on top.  :}  004

Having my very own teeny-tiny guardian angel fairy watching over me while I sleep…thanks, Emily!

033

Putting all the giant Nike high-tops back on the closet shelf in case a certain someone wants to wear them again…sometime.

 003

Rice crackers that remind me of my grade school in Los Angeles because a lot of the kids had them in sandwich bags and nibbled on them at recess. See the green spots on some of them? It’s seaweed…and those were the ones I tried not to get when I was offered a handful. And see that little half moon one just to the left of the middle? Yeaaah…that’s wasabi. It’ll blow the back of your head off and you may or may not cry for 10 minutes if you accidentally put it in your mouth during reading time.

The rest of them are great. :}

005

Getting a new, no kidding around space heater for the basement that Beany can’t force into shut-down mode by laying on it. So ha.

032

Washing and hanging up lots of colored shirts and jeans because I’m thinking they might be a welcome sight very soon for….

well…you know.

What about you? What are you loving–right this very minute?

Till the Stroke of Midnight

We ate cheesy potato soup and crusty bread and raspberry waffles and hot peppermint milk. The little kids played at our feet while the big kids battled away at Mario Kart. Even the stalwart youngest souls made it to midnight. They shot off confetti poppers and Nate even had a fancy-schmancy firework that blasted up way too high and loud for the middle of the night. It was positively indecent–and wonderful. Magoo and I watched from the front room window like the gentle souls we are. Then off we went–home again, home again…jiggity jog.

Good-bye 2012.

Hello lovely New Year.

We’ve been waiting for you.

~Basking~

These days between Christmas and New Year’s Day are some of my very favorite. Snowy slippers, hot chocolate, Christmas music and…

wayyy too much sugar.

This week always feels like some kind of sweet bonus to a season that goes by all too fast.

In fact, if you said that tomorrow was actually Thanksgiving Day…

…rather than New Year’s Day…

I would happily, gratefully believe it…love it, actually.

Truth be told, I’m a bit of a “bask-er.” I work very, very hard to to slow everything down…

in order to feel it all that much more. I guess I’m hoping that if we could just let all that holiday goodness soak into our hearts and let it sink to the tips of our toes, and shoot out the end of our fingers like warm lovely light–well then…

It might just be that much easier to keep it the rest of the year.

Ok, maybe just for the first half.

Because by that time, I’m already looking forward to the next season–planning, sewing, sneaking around and scheming.

Yeah….I firmly believe that living from one Christmas season to the next…

is a good, good thing.

Still basking, but had to share the magical joys of the day. So much love…so much happiness. I do miss those two big boys though.

Have a wonderful weekend friends.
