Skinny-Mini Headband

Got about twenty minutes…a few scraps of yarn…and a crochet hook? If so–look how much fun you can have–making the easiest headband in the world! It was so darn easy that I promptly made a bunch of different colors and sizes of headbands and forced everyone in the house to model them for me. Big kids…little kids…grown-up kids. No one was safe.

Miss Foo here, however, was the only really good sport about it…hence, the Miss Foo fest. Look how adorable!

It’s made using a simple single crochet stitch (SC). I used an H hook and Peaches and Cream Cotton yarn.

If you’d like to make one or a million of these little pretties–here’s all you have to do…

Skinny-Mini Headband

Instructions

Chain 4.

Row 1:  SC in the 2nd chain from hook and in each stitch across.

Row 2:  Chain one, and turn. SC in each stitch across.

Row 3~ Repeat Row 2 until headband will fit comfortably around the head of whoever you’re making a headband for. Repeat Row 2– 5 more times and fasten off. Weave in thread ends.

Tie the headband together with a sweet little square knot.

I made this brown one a bit wider–it’s 5 stitches across. Work with the knot until it looks exactly the way you want it to. The headband is going to have a little stretch to it.

Then find a pretty little head to put it on.

Now…take a bow. You deserve it–you clever little thing.

Thwarted

If you know me–AT all–you know that one of my very favorite things to do on this earth is this…

and this…

and this…

and of course, this.

But with the colder temperatures that we’ve had lately, and all the snow and ice everywhere, I’ve added a little something to my winter wardrobe. It looks like…

this. While scurrying out to my car, I found a very slippery patch and crash landed in the driveway. Was quite certain I’d broken my hand. Luckily, I was just being a cry baby, and it’s only a bad sprain.

And sadly,  I’ve discovered something~

Creatures without usable thumbs, are at a terrible disadvantage to everyone else.

But I’m determined to fit that hook in there somehow and make it work.

Please wish me luck.

Oh, and you guys, please, be careful of those icy patches. No crocheting makes for a long winter indeed!

Razzleberry Camo

Hey–check out the new Bag-Bag that I’ve only been working on for TWO  WHOLE YEARS!!

Finally-finally it’s finished and ready for the Shop.

The Razzleberry Camo is thicker and more sturdy than is looks because of the type of shopping bags that went into making it. It’s quite likely, that this one will be a one-of-a-kind, simply because it was dang hard to make–and took forever. It’s made up of plenty of hot pink bags, some baby pink bags, maroon bags with some glitzy silver bags–scattered throughout.

Trust me when I say–the rosy diva look will be big this spring!

Snow Day

Well, I had big plans to show you some fabulous cookies, or candy or a sewing project that’s in the works, but then this happened. Now you know perfectly well, that I love snow, but the problem with this particular storm was that it darkened the whole sky so that at around 3:00–it looked like the sun was on it’s way down. Under those apocalyptic conditions, the cookie pictures turned out dark and dreadful. The candy pictures are yellow and dull. And the sewing pictures…ok, I didn’t actually take any–because of the cookie and candy photo bust.

So, I decided to take you on a little tour of the new books that magically keep arriving at my door, from Amazon. I think that maybe I walk in my sleep and that I’ve been secretly pushing the “Buy Now” button…over…and over…and over. At least my sleepy self has good taste. This is “Warm Fuzzies” by Betz White, and it’s filled with lovely things you can do with thrift store finds. Oh, my kinda book.

Oooh-hoo–doesn’t this one look fun? Fellow blogger “Bakerella” has finally done it. Her book is stuffed full of the cute little Cake Pops that we made before only with tons of ideas to make them even cuter! Stay tuned!

Here’s another by Betz White–Sewing Green–again, making use of repurposed fabric and clothes.

I know, I know…Christmas is over. But there are some little Russian dollies in “FaLaLaLa Felt” that I’ll be soothing myself with very soon–once the Bald Kid leaves for Siberia. yikes.

Saved the sweetest for last. Now tell me honestly, wouldn’t this “Candy Babies” baby face be worth whatever is in this book? It was for me…so I bought it. Luckily, it’s a crochet book…and I can do that. I’m just saying…

Go on ahead, you old dark, and dreadful snow storm. As you can see, I have plenty of amazing things to do and I’m quite cozy in my little house where it’s warm.

So I say, “bring it.”

Crocheted Valentine Garland

I found the pattern for this adorable Crocheted Valentine Garland a few years back, over at Skip To My Lou and just knew that I had to make them. Turns out that by the time the Superbowl was over—and all the new cars were given away to the millionaire quarterbacks–I had a cute little stack of pink and purple hearts–smaller than the palm of my hand– just waiting to be strung together.

It was fun. It was fast. It was totally Valentine-y.

I hope you’ll give these little cuties a try some evening, with your pink, purple, red and white yarn scraps. I used Peaches and Cream cotton–because I love it, and a G hook. But you could make them small and delicate with crochet thread, or thick and bulky with T-shirt yarn.

And now—to find the perfect spot to hang my pretty, pink little sweet hearts.

Hmmmm…maybe the boys’ room. That would be a nice surprise. HA!
