Things To Love~

this very minute…

002

Singing “Happy Birthday” to my Bald Kid and having him actually here to blow out the candles. :}

006

Daughters planning a family vacation far away. I can hardly wait!

019

The first preseason football game of the year. Hey, to me, football is football and I’ll watch it whenever it comes on. It makes me so darn happy.

930

The Littles who are turning out to be such good friends, even when they are playing with…snails. Gak.

Seeing this cute van at a truck stop. Best wishes whoever you are!

008

Having a shameful, 7 episode Burn Notice marathon with the Bald Kid on one weekend. Just trying to get him caught up. We LOVE Michael Weston…the burned spy. :]

What about you? What do you love today?

Kenya Village Water Miracle

My good friend Scot Proctor–who I’ve known for 34 years sent me a letter today, asking for help. He is such a good man and I love him dearly. After reading his letter, I told him that I’d pass the news to my dear friends–my readers at Gracious Rain. Most of you are moms and we know moms are some of the most generous people on earth.

Here’s what he said:

Dear Launi,

My wife, Maurine, and our youngest daughter, Michaela, and I (and 21 others) are heading back to Kenya in just 9 days to complete another project in a little village where we built a school last year. This time we are working together with the villagers to bring them water. We are still short funds (as you will see when you click through to our final funding push). The drill is going right now and we really need these final dollars to put in the pipes to distribute this water to the community garden, to help us with clearing the land and to do all the fencing as well. There are also funds to do some more refurbishment of the school. We have already paid all of our expenses—we need money to help finish this project.

Can you come and look at our fund-raising page and consider helping with a donation? We would be so grateful.

I’ve always said that a lot of people giving a little each, can do a whole lot of good.

Blessings and love to you.

–Scot.

PS Please, please spread the word.

And so I am happy to do. Please go to the site and and if your children have clean water to drink, please consider helping if you can right HERE.

Water…we can’t live without it. Luckily, we don’t have to.

Charity Water~ An Update

charitywater_1

Remember a few years ago, my cute boy decided to “donate” his birthday to Charity Water?  I did a post about it–right here on my blog. Charity Water is an organization run by Scott Harrison–who is my absolute hero, by-the-way. He vows to not rest until every child on the earth has clean drinking water within reach. And he’s making a difference.

People were wonderful and donated $22 each–one dollar for every year Dane has been on earth. Well today, I got an email from Charity Water. Maybe many of you did too. It was an email to let us know how our donation had been used…every single penny of it.

Dane's Charity Water Project

If you were gracious enough to help with this cause, or even if you knew nothing about it–you’ll be pleased to see the well that Dane’s 22nd birthday helped to build.  A real, honest to goodness, tangible, miraculous blessing in the lives of 1400 people in Soda–Lisancho, Ethiopia…right this minute.

Dane's C W project

Scott Harrison is an angel and we are proud to have been a part of such a wonderful, ongoing project. If you’d like to know more about Charity Water, or want to learn how to start your own campaign– go to CharityWater.org.

It just makes my heart so happy.

Things I Love~

right this minute.

004

This girl and that guy who came to visit us this week…

yeah, they’re nuts–but they’re just so dang cute.

003

Hanging quotes up all over the house, sometimes to make a point, and sometimes to remind myself to focus a bit. Works wonders.

007

A silly kitty that insists on sleeping on my feet every night. Makes me a bit claustrophobic…but it feels nice to have her want to be there too.

010

A bald guy who still doesn’t want me to take his picture very often…so mostly…I don’t…mostly.

005

The perfect shade of pink right outside the front door…where it should be so that I can see it first thing.

001

Breakfast that looks like a TV commercial and tastes even better.

005

A wrestling match that’s been waiting for years to happen.

001

Brave little Bishop’s weed under the front window. It grows and grows and pretends that I don’t neglect it at all. Poor thing. 009

My favorite TV show in the whole…wide…world…on it’s last season. *sniff-shiff*

012

The old dude who’s still plugging along. We should probably call him Hopalong Beany.

013

Speaking the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
