Some Lovely Stuff…

going on around here…

~this little Magoo who thinks he’s eight months old, when he’s really just barely 6, and no amount of pleading will make him believe or behave otherwise.

~a little water sprite who can’t resist getting just a little splashy sometimes.

~having a beautiful view of “Y” mountain while I sit in the car waiting for a friend.

~fresh, beautiful, juicy, irresistible, marvelous new peaches…all for me.

~a pretty little butterfly that flew gracefully from Miss Chompy’s fingertips clear up to the branches of the crab apple tree. What? You can’t see him?! Trust me, he’s there.

~outdoor lights on a late summer evening.

~and this silly boy–in case you didn’t believe me the first time around.  :}

Pink and Purple

The other day, as I was taking pictures of the project you see here–I thought to myself, my goodness those colors are pretty. Now, I’m well aware that there are more popular colors around these days–my daughter tells me that yellow and grey are all the thing. OoooKkkk.

Apparently I have a deep seeded need to utterly rebel.

I never really thought I was that type of person, but the evidence is right there in front of me…everywhere.

When we bought water bottles, April chose the very modern orange and lime green…

I chose pink and purple.

My sister made me a lovely purple-blue scarf and my daughter made me a bright pink one…so this one’s not my fault, they were gifts. But the pink and purple gypsy scarf in the back–yeah, I bought that. Don’t worry, I’m not belly dancing or anything–it was just pretty.

I have a crafty idea that needed a couple of swim noodles so when I found them at Walmart, is it my fault they were purple and pink? Hmmmm?

One of the soft, squishy blankets on the end of my bed is just the right shades of purple and pink, pink and purple.

I never knew they made duct tape in bright pink, so naturally when I saw it, I had to…you know…buy it. Again, not my fault. I was overwhelmed.

Picture frame from my cute daughter…pink…

business cards…purple.

April wouldn’t let me put pink on there too. She said that the purple was “quite enough.”

Hmph.

When I was a little girl I told my mom that pink belonged to me…that I owned it. My mom said, “Wellll, ok.”

What I didn’t tell her at the time, was that…

purple’s mine too.

Miss Chompy’s Reading Tips

Did you know that wearing glasses can actually make you much, much smarter than you were just minutes before you put them on? Well, I didn’t know that either. But Miss Chompy Doodle tells me that it’s so.

She says that she needs my silly little reading glasses so that she can be smart and most especially so that she can read.

They must be magic.

I know it’s true because before she put them on, she couldn’t read a word. And now, just look. She’s nearly finished Magnificent Obsession.

Who needs preschool when you have magic glasses?

Heh, heh.

Things To Love~

this very minute…

A little girl who loves patterns and fabric just like her mama.

Seeing some of the best toys in the world coming around a second time.

Finding a very special note–just for me–on my desk, from a cute little Chompy.

Getting very close to the end of a particularly favorite project.

Great big trees and teeny tiny girls.

Being asked to make the family favorite slippers…again, only this time, in blue.

A rainbow just appearing from out of nowhere.

Figuring out the REAL reason some kids love soccer.

Thanks Guys!

A few weeks ago, I was invited up to the KSL tv studios. Luckily, Lyndi and Mr. Magoo came along, because I’m not particularly fond of big, huge adventures…by myself. And this proved to be a pretty big, huge adventure–indeed.

We got lost and so by the time we got to the right building, most of the people were already gone. But still they had piles and stacks of lovely food for us.

This was the closest that I’ve ever gotten to a real, live television camera, but they were turned off so it wasn’t too scary.

The TV people did have me stand between these two boards so they could take my picture…holding…(ahem)…the award they gave me. It was so sweet of them. In fact, I never posted about it because I was just waiting for the picture to come in the mail…like they said it would. But I haven’t seen it yet so you’ll have to just imagine me standing there trying to look very, very young and thin. It was a bit of a struggle.  :}

This will have to do.

PS– Thank you to everyone who voted for Gracious Rain…it was very kind of you and made me smile positively for days.
