So yesterday, I totally did a Saturday “Simple Smile” post…on Tuesday. It was an accident, I tell you. I sincerely thought it was Saturday. I know, I know, I’m in a time warp. It can’t be explained except to say–wait until you’re MY age and see if you can always keep things straight…
like what day it is.
So to make up for my ridiculous behavior yesterday, we’re going to have an incredible giveaway of some of my most favorite things in the entire world…
Cookbooks!!
And not just any cookbooks–but a scrumptious set that I found at JoAnn Fabrics with nearly edible photographs. No kidding. I picked up the “Pies” one first…
then saw the “Cookies” one behind it. Needed that one too.
Then when I moved that one, “Baking Made Simple” was at the back and it was calling to me.
What could I do?
I bought them all. I kept thinking, “these would make a wonderful giveaway…” but the longer IΒ carried them around the store, the closer I held them to my heart and then the tighter my grubby little fingers clutched onto them.
My thoughts changed a bit to “Actually I neeed these cookbooks to add to my collection of 65,000 back at home.” It was a sad sight indeed–such greedy behavior from a grown woman. Honestly.
So this post is a sort of penance giveaway, to prove to myself that I can actually share…
whether I want to or not.
And to make up for yesterday.
I could have sworn it was Saturday.
Sheesh.
PS~ Leave a comment on this post telling me if you’ve ever made a recipe from Gracious Rain. If yes, which one? If not, tell me one that you’d like to try and I’ll try not to be too hurt about it.
Then, poof! You’ll be entered in the giveaway. I’ll announce the winner on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:00 am.
:}
I don’t have enough time to list them all but here’s a few I can remember off the top of my head: fudge, fudge balls, no bake cookies, devil’s food surprise cookies, toffee pretzels and chili fritos pie. But honestly who needs new cook books when they have your blog π
well it doesnt matter if it was saturday or not- that picture needed to be shared! it was so stinking cute! When I’m looking for a recipe I usually check your site first because I know that you tested it! I’ve done the pumpkin roll- the potatoes- funeral? and others- i’m over 50- cant remember the names of all of them- i know you’ll forgive me! lol
My family loves the Cheesy potato soup! I have made it at least 10 times over the fall and winter.
I have made the Cheesy Potato Soup and the funeral potatoes. Does taste testing at your house count too? π
I have loved reading your recipes- in fact I look forward to reading my email in order to see what you will be sharing! However, since we are being careful with lactose, we haven’t tried any right now. I did find the cinnamon snacks that I am going to be making and some fried pickles this weekend.
Hello, My daughter and I have tried 2 of your recipes, the oreo cupcake, which we are making again this week in honor of the Oreo 100th Birthday, and another one, which was a muffin, made with honey (I should have doubled the honey). So, yes, I too love cookbooks! I really look forward to your rain every morning!!
Yes, yes, yes! Why just this month I’ve made your chicken salad recipe, AND that YUMMY brownie one for the shower, and NOW, Tim and Jamie want me to make your Brownies for their reception too! What a hit! (wish me luck!)
Love your recipes! I have made your funeral potatoes, christmas bark, fudge balls, egg toast cups, cake pops…oh man! So many yummy treats! I think you should try some jello fruit roll ups. I just found them on pinterest, and they reminded me of your blog! π
no i have never made a recipe from gracious rain but i would love to try i have 1 recipe book so it would come in handy =}
Some that I’ve tried that I can think of off the top of my head are your funeral potatoes, the peach popsicles, and of course your coveted powdered wassail!!! We love your food π Oh, and I definitely have an addiction to cookbooks, too – so I would love to add any of those to my collection!!
Hey Launi!
I print out your recipe’s all the time, but I can’t remember which ones I’ve tried. I am dying to try the pretzel bites, but haven’t actually done it yet. My mouth is watering just thinking about them! Yum. I have recently grown very fond of making things from scratch (I grew up mostly making things from packages you know). So it would be wonderful to have a cook book to help in that process! π Love your blog BTW! Hope you are doing well.
I made maple cookies and they were yummy and there are lots more recipes from your site in my “to try” list, but I can only make so many batches of cookies in a day, you know.
just last week i made the homemade brownies with my son, that was his reward to make bownies and we decided to do it right from scratch, they were wonderful.
Sady, I have not tried any of your recipes π But they sure do look delicious!! Now that I know you have such deliciousness waiting to be tried, I will definitely test them for myself!!
I have made several- Brazilian limade is one of my favorites. I can’t think of any others without going through the recipe section again I guess I will have to do that. I love all your lovely recipes!
The one recipe I have used the most from your blog is actually the lasagna! yUUUm! It’s so tasty and easy, you’d think I had it memorized… but I can’t ever remember what to pre-heat the oven to. π Ha ha ha! Some of my other favorite are funeral potatoes and oatmeal farm cookies. I could eat both of those forever! yUUUm!
We made the chocolate zucchini cupcakes and even our boys loved them! These were scrumptious. π
Oh my, I am just now learning about the recipe section of this site [I don’t get to read blogs a lot] and my mouth is currently watering over chocolate caramel cookies, chewy energy bars, halfway bars, s’more bars… oh boy….
In spite of assuring everyone that it wasn’t my recipe, and sending out links to your blog, everyone at my husband’s work is convinced that I am a cookie goddess because I made the rolo/heath bar cookies!
After I sprained my ankle last night I had the time to look through ALL your recipes to see which ones I have done. Let’s see if I can remember them all a whole 5 mins later-
Soda bread, cake balls, muddy buddies, red white and blue berry trifle, Chocolate sandwich cookie, Chocolate Carmel cookie, devils food surprise cookie,Some more bars, white chocolate popcorn… Ummm I think that’s my list. Since I will be getting foster kiddie soon, I would love some more fun dinner ideas for kids! Thanks. I love your website and all the ideas. Oh and that yummy fried chicken recipe, I’ve done that several times, it’s a hit!
IΒ΄ve made wonderfull delicious smoothies, Xmas Hugs, simple and beautifull and the most recent and simple brownies recipe that I baked into 6 shape as a surprising birthday cake, for my 6 year old son party:)
It’s funny you should ask…I tagged your recipe for Marshmallow Brownie Bars a while ago and just made them last week. MY WORD!! They were soooooo good. Rave reviews and I am still dreaming about them after finishing off the pan a few days ago. Mmmm. Thanks for sharing!!!
I made the lemony cheesecake bars not too long ago. YUM! I still want to try the Marshmallow Brownie Bars.
I am one of the ones that have not cooked anything yet.**blush** I am new to the site. But looking through the recipes, I see chicken crumble in the very near future. It looks so easy and it has ingredients the family already likes. π
