Ready To Rip

IMG_2256

My sweet Jillian came over one day with her work gloves on…

IMG_2257

and said, “Are you ready to rip out that carpet, and have a look at what is underneath?”

IMG_2258

She’s a very brave soul and I’m more the contented with whatever, “Ummm, sure!” kind of person.

So, I stepped back and she started yanking–only took her about 15 minutes and she had the whole thing loose and curled up in the middle of the room.

IMG_2262

Sure enough–there was dusty, staple-y, positively potentially lovely hardwood underneath that blue carpet.

IMG_2261

I am officially the staple remover, duster, sweeper lady now. When that’s finished, I think we’ll have a dang pretty floor here.

That’s my bet.

Free At Last!

We let them out into their yard as a trial run–and then didn’t have the heart to put them back in that silly little tub.

IMG_2240

So, I’m afraid this is home now–come rain or shine.

Pretty sure they love it.

Nearly There~

So we scrimped and we saved and we gathered every penny from the couch cushions and FINALLY were able to march right on down to the IFA and buy the chicken yard of my dreams. It’s enormous. Rhen had it put up in no time.

But the very next day…

IMG_2212

this crazy stuff started pouring down. As badly as I want my little chicken girlies to be free and roam about in their new yard–I’d like them not to drown in it. *sigh*

So, we’ll have to wait a bit for dryer weather to try it out.

Pray for my anxious, crowded birdies–and for some sunshine. Will you?

Tight Space

IMG_2196

Well, it’s time. These little girlies are getting so big that their tub-housing just isn’t going to cut it anymore.

IMG_2195

We’re working on getting their coop set up outside as quickly as possible. If the weather would just cooperate and warm up we could put them in a run outside–once we have one.

I’m afraid if we don’t hurry…

IMG_2193

they’ll go house hunting, on their own!

A Moment In The Sun

IMG_2184

Oh, these birdies of mine!

They’ve been cooped up in the silly little box, in the house…

IMG_2179

for such a long time, that we decided to take them outside for their very first taste of fresh grass…

IMG_2177

and a bit of sunshine.

IMG_2175

Oh, myyyy how they loved it. Chirping and jumping and flapping their wings at last!

IMG_2168

We’ve got to get creative really fast here. I’ve a feeling they won’t go back in their box too quietly.  Fresh air and sunshine…

can’t say as I blame them.

Next stop…chicken coop.
