A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from our lives.

A simple, special, memorable moment.

A moment I want to pause, savor and keep close to my heart.

Good weekend my friends.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Before this last week, the only Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookie I’d ever tasted was born at the grocery store. They were ok, fine, swell even. But I really wanted to find my own recipe and make it mine–to share with you.

Found it–tweaked it in a couple of places and ate them…all. Ok, with some help from the Bald Kid. But still…

Ingredients:

1 cup canned pumpkin

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 egg

2 cups flour

2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

1-1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

2 tsp. vanilla

1-1/2 cups milk chocolate chips.

Combine pumpkin, sugar, butter, and egg. In a different bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Add flour mixture to pumpkin mixture and mix well. Add vanilla and chocolate chips.

Drop by tablespoons on to greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool on pan for about 3 minutes before moving to cooling rack.

I asked the bald kid if he liked the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies and he said,

“Dude. I ate 12 of them.”

I’m thinkin’ that’s a yes.

Dark Knight Day

If you look very closely…

you may just pick up on a particular…

theme…

that has been playing itself out…

over and over and over again at our place…

for many years now…

most noticeably in the life of a certain “artist formerly known as the bald kid.”

Oh, he’s not alone in his admiration for the “Caped Crusader.” In fact, did you know that the Batman comic book character is the longest running Super Hero and has stayed consistently in print since 1939?

So considering all of this, and after much deliberation—I hereby proclaim, from this day, henceforth–July 27 will officially be know–at least in this house–as…

“Batman Appreciation Day”

April’s first word…”Hi.”
Lyndi’s first word…”Daddy.”
Jillian’s first word…”Mama.”
Dane’s first word…”shoe.”
The Bald Kid’s first word…

“Batman.”

True story.

Happy Birthday Bald Kid!!

“…find out what it means to me…”

The bald kid keeps asking me to please stop putting pictures of him on my blog–but I keep doing it anyway.

He says, “It’s a lack of respect.”

I’ve been asking the bald kid to please stop burping out loud and in public since he was three and a half–but he keeps doing it anyway.

I say, “We’re even.”

At one picture for every burp–I figure, if he stopped tomorrow I’d still have about 645,000 pictures to post before I’d have to quit.

Dreadful, universal lack of respect going on around here–wouldn’t you say?

Oh, power–and how it corrupts.
