Here’s a lovely, fun thing for the holidays–from my cute friend…ok, ok, it’s my daughter~April~over at 21st Century Charm School. I just HAD to show you this pretty little table runner–because it’s so dang cute–not to mention that the pattern is FREE–just in time for Christmas.
It whips up quick using whatever fabric floats your boat. She used Christmas prints, but of course, you can choose your personal favorites and have this one finished in an evening. April swears that it’s so easy that even I can do it. Now that’s saying something–since I’m not a big quilter…yet. I’ll be back in the near future to show you how mine turned out.
The other day, April called and said she needed to drive clear to the moon and back and did I want to come with her? You can’t actually make that long of a trip all by yourself, with two babies in the back seat. It’s not physically or emotionally possible without sacrificing a major portion of your sanity. Not smart either.
So, of course I wanted to come.
Besides the Logan trip is one of my personal favorites. Seriously, it’s quite a pretty, peaceful drive–as long as you can hand out fruit snacks to the two-year-olds in a timely enough fashion.
When we finally arrived at the shop, and April delivered her brand new quilt patterns, we decided that the day couldn’t possibly be over yet.
There was just more to see…and do…and buy…and…umm…nibble on.
So we scooted right on over to the Gossner’s cheese store, where we promptly bought out the rootbeer milk and squeeky cheese. No, there’s no more left. We got it all, so don’t even ask.
Still not satisfied–we kept right on driving until we reached the wicked, evil, marvelous, incredible cookie factory. I don’t have a picture of it for you because I was so excited to get there that my hands were shaking uncontrollably and it screwed up the picture.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
But this is what the car middle space looked like for the drive home. I don’t know exactly where all those ridiculous cookies and crackers came from. Perhaps the rapid intake of sugar impaired my memory some how. Pretty sure they were allll for the kids. {insert diabolical laughter}
It did make the drive home more interesting…that is until the sugar highs plunged down to the sugar lows. But never you fear. Because just as we were about to sink into the depths of much-too-much-junk-ism, we found a lonely little fellow at a roadside stand–with a fresh-picked supply of…
Autumn raspberries!! Oh happy day!
We were saved!
Now we could drive all the way home in corrected blood sugar level peace and safety…or something.
In fact, we bought so many raspberries that we could eat our fill and do it again and STILL have enough to share with the neighbors and all of you guys and the cat! We could send you all a package, just as soon as we got home. What a great idea. Watch for them in your mailbox.
Here’s some amazing news from my daughter, April that I’d love to share with you~
Family and Friends–
I am so SO excited to announce the Grand Opening of my pattern shop, and the release of my debut quilting patterns! I feel like I have been telling people “soon” for so long, that I can hardly believe soon is NOW! 🙂 But it’s true, the day is here, the website is up, and the patterns are all written and ready to go. Click HERE to go to the website. The pre-sale is going on now, patterns will begin to ship out on October 15th, and any purchase of 3 or more patterns receives a free gift.
I know some of you aren’t quilters, (and never want to be, ha ha) but if you will tell every person you know that might be interested in some new, beautiful (if I do say so myself) patterns–I’ll give you quilting lessons…or chocolate…whichever. 🙂 There are links on my website for my Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr pages, so if you’re into any of those sites and want to share with your contacts there, that would be fabulous.
Thank you so much for all your love, encouragement, and support. I couldn’t have done ANY of this without you. You guys are the best.
Don’t you just love the book, “A Very Hungry Caterpillar?” It has been one of my favorites since I picked it up in a local bookstore when I was a teenager. This sweet book is 40 years old this year and with celebrations going on world wide–how could we possibly do anything different today other than say, “Wahoo!” for the most famous caterpillar of all time?
If you own the book–now would be a great time to pull it down from the shelf and read it to your kids–no matter how old they are. If you don’t have the book–that’s ok too.Â
This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which was published in 1969. Celebrations and activities based on this much-loved book will be held throughout the year in schools and libraries and by readers and friends all around the world. Also, a special edition of the book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar Pop-Up Book featuring Eric Carle’s illustrations in a 3-dimensional format, will be available for sale at your local bookstore.
Now, go eat an apple, 2 pears, 3 plums, 4 strawberries, 5 oranges, some chocolate cake, an ice cream cone, a pickle, some Swiss cheese, a slice of salami, a lolipop, a piece of cherry pie, a sausage and a cupcake. If you really want to be a sport–try a leaf for dessert.

Happy Reading!
“A Very Hungry Caterpillar” quilt is from the Springville Art Museum 2009 Quilt Fair.
This week’s food storage prompt is: 1 can tuna, 3 cans mushroom soup
No rides. No farm animals. No cotton candy—or food of any kind on the premises, thank you. But somehow still a fair none-the-less.
By now…you should know how we feel about fairs…any sort.
We lovvve them.
I couldn’t stop looking at this one. It’s my favorite in the whole building. It was sewn with gold thread and sparkled like there was dew on all the leaves. So beautiful.
This one, “A Very Hungry Caterpillar” was the babies’ personal favorite. They tried to eat it.
I’m not kidding.
So we had no choice but to go down the street and find…
