In light of the fact that we are–in a way–saying, “Good-bye” to Harry Potter and Co. this week, I thought it would be interesting to check out a bit of Potter-ish trivia.

For instance–did you know that~

Harry’s scar has been applied by the makeup department 5,800 times (approximately 2,000 times on Daniel Radcliffe; the rest on his stand-ins and stunt doubles).

Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes Shop has 120 different products in it, and a cash till purchased on eBay.

40 kittens were filmed for the decorative plates in Dolores Umbridge’s office.

Radcliffe has used 160 pairs of glasses in the course of making the films, and worn out between 60 and 70 wands.

The 1/3-size model of the Weasley home, The Burrow, created for the fire scene in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” took 14 weeks to make and 6 minutes to burn down.

Robbie Coltrane, who plays Hagrid, has gotten numerous things caught in his character’s beard over the years; among them, a portable fan and a live fruit bat.

250 paintings were created for the staircase at Hogwarts; among them portraits of producers David Heyman and David Barron.

The Great Hall, the first set created for the “Harry Potter” movies, is large enough to hold 22 London double-decker buses. Its tables are covered with graffiti that the young cast has added over the years, and its floor is made of real York stone — the better to withstand the trampling of thousands of feet.

The Shell Cottage has 4,500 individual scallop shells on its roof.

The Hogwarts Express train has a steam engine built in 1937, and its four carriages date from the 1950s.

588 separate sets have been created for the films, of which the largest was the Ministry of Magic.

250,000 articles of clothing have been used in the series, including 600 school uniforms.

The Hospital Wing at Hogwarts, whose design was inspired by the Oxford School of Divinity, began life as the fountain end of the girls’ bathroom in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.”

14 offices were built in the atrium of the Ministry of Magic, constructed on scaffolding and only able to bear a limited amount of weight. Most of what can be seen in those offices are photographic images; only stuntmen are allowed in the offices for filming.

Emma Watson says that her favorite prop in all the movies is the Time Turner;

Rupert Grint says that his favorite is the Deluminator.

Radcliffe says that his is Harry’s glasses.
