Lazy Days of Autumn

These–warm one minute–snowing the next–days of Autumn have called for some sweet little additions to the baby girl wardrobe. Something that works so well with layers and tights and fluffy boots, but also would look simply smashing with just a T-shirt was in order. Once again, I give you…

another installment of the Lazy Days Skirt from Oliver and S. It’s the same one we used last Halloween because it’s just so darn simple. So simple, in fact, that I made two at the same time. One for the baby of the house with black ribbon on the bottom…

and one for Princess Peach (aka Lily), with cream ribbon on the bottom. They work up so fast and look so adorable, that I’m rummaging through the fabric stash with big plans for Thanksgiving…and Christmas…and Hanukkah…and New Year…and Valentine’s Day…and Easter…and 4th of July…

and Halloween. I want to be ready, you know?

Big Kid Spooks

Back when the “big kids” were really little kids and not actually big kids, and didn’t have any little kids of their own–are you still with me?–dressing up for Halloween was a month long deal. These guys would tear through the costume box and try everything on and mix and match to their hearts content before finally, FINALLY deciding what to “be” for Halloween. Many times the big decision would end up being made about 3 minutes before scurrying out the door with everybody else to trick or treat.

Look who we have here–Sweet Lyndi the naughty witch, Yellow embarrassed clown Jillian, Purple grinning clown April, friend sixties girl Alyna, and bitty baby bear Daney boy.

Silly little “bald kid” was just a baby, not a big enough kid, and too busy being a baby, and being bald, to dress up. ha ha.

Baby Spooks

I don’t actually remember this particular Halloween, but that’s because I’m the little one in the shot. Laurie was a pink cat or something and Andy was a skeleton. Sweatshirts and masks.

My favorite things are the tiny pumpkins. I always felt sorry for them at the store, because I was afraid they’d be left behind.  To this day, that’s the size I buy.

Don’t you sometimes wish that it could all be this simple again?

A Child Left To Himself…

…putteth his mother to shame.”

Isn’t that a bible verse or something? If it isn’t, it should be.

So, here’s the story—

We grown-ups were minding our own business, having a discussion of some sort in the office when we heard an unusual amount of giggling coming from the kitchen—always a dangerous sign with a three year old loose in the house. We came around the corner to find, to our surprise,  that a 25lb. bag of flour can, indeed be ripped in half by a determined kid with a fork. Pretty sure he thought there was a prize inside.

He was wrong…

dang cute…

but wrong.

New Kids In Town

I’d like you to meet a few new friends that have just recently moved in at our place.

First we have Miss Yin Yang…

then Brave Running Water…

and Miss Hula Lula.

Then we have Miss Dutchy Dikewater…

and Jose’ Noway.

All of these little finger babies came to play with us from Wee Knit–one of our favorite places.  Oh, we love these sweet things so we gave them their own apartment in an Altoids box. They are sooo happy–and we are sooo happy. You might just need to have some come live with you–then you’ll be happy too!

Group hug…
