Never a creature so loved.
How I’ll miss those dear little paws.
Good bye my sweet, sweet Beany.
My sweet Beany has not been feeling so good for the last few days.
You know, sleeping a lot.
Thinking about sleeping a lot.
Now and then he will take a long drink of water, but not too much in the way of actual food.
Worries me.
I’m beginning to wonder if he remembers our deal.
Do you remember Beany?
I love you with all my might…
and you just live forever.
I think that’s fair.
Just walking around the house, tidying a bit, and scoping out where all the kittys like to hang out. Jiffy likes a nice, soft place without too many wrinkles. Fleece is her favorite, but she’s adapting for the moment and choosing and afghan because the floor heater is nearby. She just wants to be warm and comfy.
Peach will take anything that the other cats have made look good. If they’ve EVER slept on it, she’s sure to be there next. Silly thing. She’s growing up so big and pretty.
And then, of course, there’s the guy. Good, old Beany. We flipped his bed over and he likes it ten times better than before–as long as it’s right at my feet. I’m certain it’s because he becomes totally invisible this way. So, invisible, in fact, that I’ve tripped over him twice. If it wasn’t for that little white paw…you wouldn’t even know he was there.
Well, that, and the snoring.

My lovely pale pink roses that used to be a deep, exotic violet. But since I don’t know enough about roses to make them behave properly–they’ve gone completely wild and have a mind of their own. I think I might just like them better–in spite of that…or perhaps because of it. Sometimes wild is exactly what something needs to be, don’t you think?
Sitting outside in the back for the very first time this summer. Breathing in the fresh, warm air and watching my pretty mountains just sitting there too…as they certainly should.
Looking up at the lonely little choke cherry tree, that likely won’t bare any fruit at all this year. The birdies will be sad about that for sure. The willow that has grown next to this tree for a million years was removed last week–had to be done–but still, I wonder if our lone tree will be brave enough to carry on without his old friend. I suppose we’ll see.
Just the right amount of sun and water for this girlie–also a first for the year. Finally, finally warm enough for the swimsuit and sprinkler to come out. Oh, she’s a brave one with a hose, this girl. The ice cold mountain water would send most kids screaming indoors–but not this water baby. She squeals at every shower and runs right back through for more. Like her mama that way.
Mr. Beany having his first–I think–experience with an ice cube. He licked and licked and then stopped suddenly. Tongue freeze, no doubt. Then he acted mad at me the rest of the afternoon, turning his back whenever I’d talk to him…the pill.
A warm summer breeze blowing just sturdy enough to give the wind chime a run for it’s money. It was fun to hear and nearly as fun to watch. I imagine a wind chime has a lot of waiting to do in it’s lifetime–for just the right breeze to set it free.
And what about you? What things are you loving today? Hmmmm?

This old cat–
~that wakes me up at 3 am because he wants something different to eat…
~that still thinks he can beat up great big dogs, like he used to…
~that once caught a fly in mid air by slapping his two paws together…
~that is on a owner imposed diet of 100% meat…
~that is back to weighing over 10 pounds…
~that has a thicker, shiney-er coat than he’s ever had in his life…
~that has survived four deadly infections, a near-completely severed tail, bone cancer and multiple b-b-shots…
~that has no idea he is missing a back leg…
~that has moved with us 5 different times…
~that likes to lay by my feet…no matter where I am sitting…
~that has front claws like grappling hooks which he uses to jump on my bed and which will easily go through your toenail if you happen to get in his way…
~that is three times older than my oldest grandchild and 3 years younger than my grown up son…
makes me very happy–except for the toenail part–indeed.
