Big Kid Spooks

Back when the “big kids” were really little kids and not actually big kids, and didn’t have any little kids of their own–are you still with me?–dressing up for Halloween was a month long deal. These guys would tear through the costume box and try everything on and mix and match to their hearts content before finally, FINALLY deciding what to “be” for Halloween. Many times the big decision would end up being made about 3 minutes before scurrying out the door with everybody else to trick or treat.

Look who we have here–Sweet Lyndi the naughty witch, Yellow embarrassed clown Jillian, Purple grinning clown April, friend sixties girl Alyna, and bitty baby bear Daney boy.

Silly little “bald kid” was just a baby, not a big enough kid, and too busy being a baby, and being bald, to dress up. ha ha.

That One Spooky Bash

Every year my sister has the best Halloween party on the planet.

It’s a big deal–I tell you.

Even Ariel was there…

along with a bunch of rough looking dudes…

Hippie Jesse–the tree hugger and his wife, Amy…the tree, and a couple of Wiimotes…

Baby Mario and Princess Peach…

Jane and Jimmy Durante...

and a wandering Jack o’ lantern.

The mummy and joker came…

and a Chinese Fortune cookie…passing out fortunes….

pretty little Kate, who won the big prize…

a glowing spider…

and Robin Hood.

The Rock Star girls…

and a bridge over troubled water.

Yesiree–everyone was there…

even spooky Mr. Potatohead. Now there’s a shady looking character.

Wonder if he knows anything about the body under the table.

Yikes.

Mighty spooky bunch!

Techno Baby

This moment…

A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from our lives.

A simple, special, extraordinary moment.

A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you are inspired to do the same–leave us a link in the comments.

Happy Saturday everyone.

The Chef and the Surgeon

Back when we were pups–my dear friend Mary Jo and I decided to go Trick or Treating…you know, take the little kids out so they’d be sure to have some mature, adult supervision.

Ah, yes. What humanitarians we were. ALWAYS thinking of the welfare of others…small children…old people…woodland creatures…pet rocks.

{sigh}

Ok…ok.

So, there were a couple of guys up the street and we figured why waste a good excuse to drop by and say a nice, casual, breathy, impromptu, “HIiiiii.”

The kids did make a pretty great smoke screen though.

heh, heh.

Great Pumpkin Ready…

so to speak.

Look at this photo very carefully. What’s wrong with this picture? Well, other than the fact that it’s a bit blurry–what else is really, REally wrong here? Hmmmm?

Ha! There now. That’s much better.

Daney-boy has told me many times that his favorite memory in the world was when he was little and and came home from school to find the house all decorated for Halloween…just like magic! He missed it even when he was far, far away in Lithuania.

Oh, but now look this direction. Tsk…tsk. Positively dreadful.

Just a few subtle changes…here and there. Would you like to see them up close? Okkkk…try not to be too frightened. {snicker, snicker}

Oh, yeah…

Halloween, Andersonian style…

…the Next Generation.
