{ He Knows You }

“I testify to you that God has known you individually . . . for a long, long time. He has loved you for a long, long time. He not only knows the names of all the stars, He knows your name and all your heartaches and your joys!’

A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from our lives.

A simple, special, memorable moment.

A moment I want to pause, savor and keep close to my heart.

Dang Cool

I forgot to mention that I did pick up a little treasure on our antique spree the other day. It would, I’m sure, be considered a silly thing to most people. But when the lady unlocked the glass case and let me hold the darn thing…my hands were shaking. See, I’d been looking for this pretty cup for about 15 years, and never thought for a second that I’d ever touch one–never mind take one home.

Now I suppose there aren’t many people on this planet that know what this even is. But I’ll give you a tiny hint…

Any guesses my friends?

Just curious.

One Rainy Day

After days of rain…

the sun peeked out between all those clouds–for just a little minute. So Lily, Beckham and I rushed over to the school yard at the end of the block. We had the place completely to ourselves…

which meant that I could sit in the car with the doors open and just let them run and play. Yes, yes…I was being Lazy-Bones-Jones but they were happy–I was happy–so all was right with the world.

Then Beck rushed back to tell me something that he totally forgot by the time he got to the sidewalk…

and spied a row of teeny tiny ants–very, very interesting when you’re just 3 years old.

Very…very.  And while he was contemplating the little critters…

Lily ran back to the car with some treasures of her own…

just in the nick of time!

:]

PS–the bald kid tells me–now that he’s left the valley–the rain should clear up soon. He swears it was only here because he and I  love it so much. I guess we’ll see.

Perfectly Perfect Snickerdoodles

No, no. I mean it. These guys are soft in the middle, chewy-crunchy on the edges and cinnamony all over the place. That, my friends–spells perfectly perfect. You may just find yourself stuffing a couple of these in your purse, and skipping down the road singing a few bars of, “Oh, happy day…”

And rightly so.

Perfectly Perfect Snickerdoodles

Ingredients:

3 cups flour

1 tsp. baking soda

2 tsp. cream of tartar

1/2 tsp. salt

1 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

2tsp. vanilla

—————————-

1/4 cup sugar

2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt, and set aside. Cream butter and brown sugar and 1 cup of white sugar on medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then add vanilla. Slowly add flour mixture and beat on low just until mixed.

Mix 1/4 cup sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon in a bowl. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and then in the cinnamon sugar. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes and allow to cool slightly before moving to cooling rack.

Go get ’em.

Return with honor.
