The Ripple Finally, Finally

At last, the ripple blanket for our new little soul is finally finished. And none too soon too, because he’s a great, grown fellow of one week now.

I asked for April’s help in choosing just the right colors for this sweet project and as you may remember, I was taken back by her choices…and yet…

as I worked on it night after night letting the soft, smooth Caron yarn slide through my fingers with each stitch…

it came to grow on me–until, I could hardly wait to check my stripe pattern to see what piece of loveliness  was coming up next. After a while, I found it hard to stop so, baby blanket or not, I kept going, and going and going.

Thanks to Lucy, for her incredible tutorial on perfect ripple stitching over at Attic 24. Her instructions were simply brilliant and made me brave enough to carry on from start to finish. And with all the project bags around here–that’s saying something. Now to find someone warm and snugly to wrap in it.

When he wakes up, I know just the fellow.

Fruity Jello Roll-Ups

Turns out–that our little Jello Marshmallow adventure wasn’t a flop after all–like I thought it would be. So, we shall forge ahead and share it with you. Brace yourself…

it’s fabulous~

First, I have a sad confession to make, and that is–I have never been a huge fan of Knox Blox or Jello Jigglers or whatever you want to call them. It just seemed like chewing on a piece of fruity rubber and seriously, it always kind of freaked me out. So, when I saw this recipe, I was a bit skeptical.

But to my surprise, these little fruity rolls ups were different–and what-do-you-know, we love them! They are stretchy enough to be fun, but still soft enough to be chewable. In other words–perfect!

Even the little miss loved them…even if she wasn’t in the mood…

to smile for the camera.

I think she’s actually erasing me and my silly camera right now. Either that, or figuring that if she closes her eyes then I can’t see her.

Ok, ok…I get the hint. No. More. Pictures.

Sheesh!

I’m off to make another batch–this time, in Peach! If you’re wise, you’ll whip these little dudes up too.

Fruity Jello Roll-Ups

1 (6 oz.) pkg. jello

1 cup boiling water

3 cups miniature marshmallows

Lightly spray a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Bring water to a boil and remove from heat.  Add Jello and stir well until Jello is completely dissolved–about 2 minutes.

Add marshmallows and stir until marshmallows begin to melt.  Whisk until marshmallows are completely dissolved.  A pretty little creamy layer will form on the top–unless you wait too long to refrigerate them–like I did.  Oops!

Pour into pan and immediately refrigerate until well set- 1 to 3 hours. They will be very firm and easy to handle.  Loosen edges with a knife.

Starting at one end, roll up tightly.  With seam side down, cut into 1/2 inch slices.  We used the dental floss cutting method (shown in this post).  Just put the string around roll-up, cross and pull to cut.

Serve immediately or store the cute little things in the refrigerator.

Greenery Then and Now

St. Patrick’s day always has us all thinking, and wearing and tasting and seeing green–positively everywhere. Since Jillian is the only one of us that has actually been to Ireland–she let me borrow one of her incredible pictures to celebrate the day. Seriously–do we even have that color green here?

I carried my little leprechaun with me all day–out of the bottle of course. He’s happier that way.

Dusted off my shamrock earrings–the kids LOVED them.  :}

Been saving the perfect socks for this day as well.

Three years ago, Baby Chomp had her own way of spending the day.

Now, she’s much more rainbows than just the color green–which of course, is perfect!

So you know, we did make Miss Chompy’s green jello, marshmallow…umm…thing. Not sure if you’ll be seeing that one or not. Still pondering whether or not it’s edible.

Speaking of edible–my adorable niece Emily, brought over dinner to celebrate the new little soul in our world and St. Patrick’s Day too. Incredible corn beef and asparagus, carrots, cabbage, mashed potatoes and gravy, fruit salad and rolls. We were in heaven I tell you…heaven.

Found this little four leaf clover glass pebble a while back, so yeah…I carry that around too.

Remember this silly guy modeling my Leprechaun hat and beard? One of these days I’ll figure out the pattern for that. Pretty dang funny.

Hope your St. Patrick’s Day was lovely too and filled with magic.

As it should be.
