Quilty Girl

I’ve been away from this space for a bit with my smarty pants daughter April–at the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. We had an amazing time but sadly, neither of us brought a camera–assuming, of course, that the other one surely had. Oooooh, bad form, I know. SO, I’ll have to see what I can come up with from Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and whatever else I find, to share some of our adventure.

It. Was. AWESOME.

Rainbow Chevron Bag 2

It isn’t very often that I make the same pattern more than once. But this one was just too much fun to leave alone.

So, with the one I made a few weeks ago–posted here –I obeyed the pattern instructions to the letter. Why, I even used the same colors that they told me to.

But this time around, I used Peaches and Cream Cotton instead of Bamboo…

and let pink have more of the spotlight. Pink is, after all, the most beautiful color in the world. Heh, heh.

So far, I’ve been grabbed twice and asked for the pattern by complete strangers and begged mercilessly for a black and pink one from a good friend. Sheesh!

Yeah, I’m thinking this pattern is a keeper and I just may need to make a few more.

Color suggestions anyone?

:} Oh, and the pattern is from Lion Brand Yarn and it’s called “Rainbow Burst Tote.”

Pumpkin Surprise

001

The garden this year was a bust. It all got carried away and went totally out of control. I’d show you a picture, but it was too embarrassing. Besides, who takes a picture of a patch of 4 foot tall weeds? Honestly.

003

But then a funny thing happened. Once the temperature dropped and the nasty things started dying back, we found a few stalwart, brave pumpkins hiding in the forest, no doubt, hoping with all their pumpkin might, that we wouldn’t come out and torch the whole place. Isn’t that what farmers do to kill weeds?

004

We’ll work harder next year. No, I mean it. There was just something goofy about the plot this time. It was like a garden possessed.

But nice to know that even under all the weeds-gone-wild, a few pretty little things can still wait patiently, hiding out until we find them.

Rainbow Chevron Bag

Yes, I seem to be on a lovely little roll these days.

A bright, cheery, colorful baggy sort of roll. I showed you a bit of this one a few weeks back when I was feeling proud of myself for learning this new stitch.

It’s called the Rainbow Burst Tote and rightly so. I found the pattern right here at Lion Brand Yarn.

Oh, it was loads of fun and I’ve already made a second one. If  you crochet, and IF you’re feeling adventurous–run out and grab some lovely bamboo yarn and give this one a try.  You might even make two.
