Pioneer Day

Maybe everybody everywhere doesn’t have a Pioneer Day to Celebrate…

like we do.

And that, my friends is a crying shame.

I mean, really–who doesn’t need one more reason to eat a barbecued hot dog from a fork?

Or to play another round of croquet?

Or to have a wagon ride through the meadow?

Or to just sit back and watch the summer wind blow in the trees?

You know…like the Pioneers did.

Peaches ‘N Cream

Don’t you just LOVE Summer?! Good thing peaches are starting to come on because I’ve been craving them like a nut. How about you? Yeah…I bet you have.

So, this amazing little thing outta just about do it–for all of us. It tastes like a soft, light, fluffy, peachy–cheese cake. Or maybe that’s exactly what it is.

That would explain it.

Crust:

2 cups Graham Cracker Crumbs

6 Tbsp butter, melted

1/4 cup sugar

Mix ingredients together and press into the bottom of a 13×19 pan. Chill.

Filling:

4- 8oz pkg. Cream Cheese

3/4 cup sugar

1 small pkg. peach jello

2-3 fresh peaches–peeled and chopped

1- 8oz Cool Whip

Beat the cream cheese, sugar and jello powder until fluffy. Add peaches and whipped topping and blend on low speed until mixed well. Spoon over graham cracker crust. Chill until firm–a few hours. Serve cold.

Bring some over to my house–we’re fresh out.

Summer Sprinkles

So, being the good, kind, benevolent Grammy that I am–I finally, finally got the old floppy, crinkled, ridiculous Snap-Set pool out for the baby birds. It might not look so big to you–but it took about a million hours to fill the sucker up. We let it sit in the sun forever to nudge the water a bit warmer than the Artic-Snow setting it started out with.

Oh, the Lilliputians loved it all right. In fact, since it was about 145 degrees in the shade–

they wasted no time and dove right in…

and promptly…

began…

to empty it. After all my work. Sheesh…

What the heck?!

Ahhh…well. Who could argue with that cute little face?

Ha!  Mother Nature–that’s who!

Atta girl…heh, heh, heh.

View From a Porch Swing

Right before my eyes…

Some of my very favorite bare feet.

Our lovey mountains…covered with new snow…in June… Wow.

A tired boy with a grumpy old cat on his lap. Look fast because this scene won’t happen twice. :}

Two robins–can you spot them?–sitting on the fence posts, planning their strawberry swiping strategy–right in front of me!

Sweet baby kisses for mommy.

The most comfy socks ever invented.

A couple of kids with a couple of juice pops.

The view from here is  pretty darn good.

What can you see from where you are?
