Christmas In October

In order to have ANY chance of my Russia boy getting a Christmas box from home–we need to send it out NOW. Probably should have done it sooner, to be honest because whatever slow boat or mule train they use over there for mail…well, it’s just not as reliable as we’d like.

Besides sending some Santa window clings, we also included snowflake ornaments, US stamps, and Christmas music CDs.

Sincerely though, his favorite part will be allllll the protein. I’m sending beef sticks, sausage crumbles, tuna and a half side of beef made into jerky.

Ok, maybe not a whole half side of beef, but it feels like it.

Especially when they weigh it at the post office.

dun…dun…dun.

$79.60 for postage.

I suppose dog sleds and mule trains are a bit pricey this time of year.

Anything for you my boy.

“Summer” in Siberia

Apparently it doesn’t always snow in Siberia–

so my boy is finally warm…for a couple of weeks…anyway.

From what I’ve read, this interesting place gets about 2 months of warmer weather before the abominable snowman comes roaring back. In some places, the ice doesn’t even melt completely.

Yikes.

Sending this guys warm thoughts….

and a space heater.

Great Recovery

My broken Pandora is still alive!! Orrrrr I should say that Rhen’s pandora is still alive. I really expected that it was going to croak–all because he wasn’t here to pamper it himself. Some plants are like that you know. Very picky things.

So glad we won’t have to tell him about his plant friend’s…

demise.

Flying home for a funeral would be expensive…

and being labeled as the Plant Slayer isn’t cool either.

Phew.
