This, my dears is our newest little sweetheart–Merrick. He’s the happiest little soul that you’ve ever seen and OH, so much fun to snuggle and kiss.

He is the son of Dane & Kortney and the dearest little grand-baby imaginable.
So glad they are close by so they can share all this happiness with us.
I wake up most mornings to this silly thing crying to be let out to the room at the top of the stairs. It’s where her own personal spot of sunshine hits and she lays there basking until every scrap of it is gone. On overcast days–when there is no sunlight whatsoever, Jiff will act mad at me for hours. Like I’m in charge of the sun, and just not letting her have it, or something.
Maybe I need to get her a heat lamp and totally be the Goddess of all warmth and light.
I could live with that.
April and Jacob will be coming back tonight.

April and Jacob are on a wonderful trip to Israel for Jacob’s cousin’s wedding and I’m staying with the kids while they’re gone. To make it easier on itty bitty Hazel, we made a picture of her parents that she can look at when she misses them.
It helps her if she can look at the pictures and I can say, “Mommy and Daddy will be home in a few days sweetie’–even if time is a bit of a mystery at this age.
What she does understand though is that they are her world.
