April’s Afghan

This sweet project was truly a labor of love that took nearly a year to complete. It was April’s turn to choose an afghan and she chose the pattern and all the colors. She really has the best eye for all that, so I was thrilled that she didn’t tell me to just wing it. That would have gone badly!!

I stitched the squares together with a simple single crochet. I know there are fancier ways to do it but this worked just fine.

The edge came from the deep ridiculous recesses of my brain and I’m sure I couldn’t do it twice–Haha. I just kept going around until it looked like I wanted it to.

In the end, we both thought it was perfect.

Warrior Link

Jacob asked me if I could make a Link from Legends of Zelda—

only in full Warrior gear.

What an amazing challenge it was!

I had a pattern for the basic Link character–which I made for my grandson a while back…

but there was NOOOO pattern for this.

And you know, I think I loved it even more because I had to figure it all out myself.

Even down to the Korok seed in his back pouch…

and teeny earring in his pointed ears.

The skull mask was particularly fun with it’s hair, braids, teeth…

and creepy horns. Link even has his stomach tattoos and medallions.

A TON of work but I loved every second of it.

A Piece of My Heart Garland

For Daney-boy’s birthday this year, I made him this Valentine’s garland for his mantle.

I know what you’re thinking…

“Why would a big burly dude like Dane want a froofy Valentine heart garland?”

Well, I’ll tell you.

See, this particular big, burly dude happens to lovvvve decorating for the holidays…


any holidays.

In fact, I’m sure, right this minute, he’s trying to figure out what I can crochet for Groundhog’s day or Harry Potter’s birthday or…or…or…

You get the point.

And you know what?

I’d probably do it too.

Because I have a special place in my heart for my sweet kids who all seem to adore making life a little more fun and having something magical to look forward to.

What I really hope is that they come by it…

naturally.

Beckham’s Dino

Beckham came over on his lunchbreak from school the other day. There’s a huge benefit to grandkids that can drive!!

While he was here he saw me scrolling through my Pinterest boards.

After hearing him say, “OOoooh, you could make me that!” about 50,000 times…

I jumped up from the computer and showed him how to make his own board that he could Pin ideas to.

Yep. He liked it a lot–especially when it came to this little Stegasaurus.

Sure made his birthday present easy!

Hollow Knight

A few years back, my son played a game called Hollow Knight. He would play, I would read or crochet or work on a puzzle.

What I didn’t actually want to do very often was to…look up. The game gave me the creeps. Not for any violent or evil thing going on. It was actually pretty tame in that way.

But the music was sad and creepy and there were a lot of bugs. Tons of worms and centipedes and assorted crawly things–many much bigger than I was comfortable with. Perhaps I haven’t shared with you how I feel about bugs.

Perhaps I have.

Barf-o-rama.

ANYway, the hero of this game was a little white rabbitty looking dude with a sword that I was ok with.  Rhen loved the game so much that out of the blue, I decided to make him this little fella.

Quite pleased with myself if I’m honest.

That is, until my son thanked me for making Knight… the big, white…

beetle.
