Zip It

Oh yeaaaah…

there are some mad skills going on at our place.

This little chicky seems to think that she’s got it all figured out…

and doesn’t need a bit of help…

even undoing a sticky zipper.

Wait…

How did this happen? I mean, how is she getting so big…so fast?

I swear,  just a minute ago she was crawling around, eating mushy stuff from a jar.

{sigh}

Next, she’ll be asking for the car keys.

There otta’ be a law…

Summer Wisdom

These things I know to be true…

Some damsels just aren’t interested in being rescued…they’d rather redecorate.

The perfect frame will bring the sunshine into any room.

Bruschetta is positively scrumptious with mostly fresh ingredients. More on this later.

There is only one proven way to keep wee folk out of the freezer when there are Popsicles inside.

A variation on a theme of oatmeal is still oatmeal and therefore…good for you.

Watching a cul-de-sac on fire is a splendid way to spend a summer evening.

It is perfectly acceptable–sometimes–to let someone else make the dessert.

Cottonwood is a magical, floating, fairy-like thing…unless it makes your sister sneeze–then, of course, it should be banned from the kingdom.

When you’re not quite 2, it’s really ok to be a great, big chicken.

Water really does taste best from a garden hose.

Amen and amen.

Dark Knight Day

If you look very closely…

you may just pick up on a particular…

theme…

that has been playing itself out…

over and over and over again at our place…

for many years now…

most noticeably in the life of a certain “artist formerly known as the bald kid.”

Oh, he’s not alone in his admiration for the “Caped Crusader.” In fact, did you know that the Batman comic book character is the longest running Super Hero and has stayed consistently in print since 1939?

So considering all of this, and after much deliberation—I hereby proclaim, from this day, henceforth–July 27 will officially be know–at least in this house–as…

“Batman Appreciation Day”

April’s first word…”Hi.”
Lyndi’s first word…”Daddy.”
Jillian’s first word…”Mama.”
Dane’s first word…”shoe.”
The Bald Kid’s first word…

“Batman.”

True story.

Happy Birthday Bald Kid!!

Those Relations

No kidding. Today is honest to goodness “National Aunt’s and Uncle’s Day.” We love all the sweet aunts and uncles at our place.

What would Lily ever do without Uncle Dane to watch hot air balloons with?

And how would Baby Chomp ever play such a great game of Peek a Boo…

without  Uncle “Bald Kid”…

or stay as safe and warm as in Aunt April’s arms?

Aunt Lyndi’s lap is a perfect place to watch a parade from…if you’re baby Beckham.

And positively everyone wants to be on Aunt Jillian’s lap–all at the same time.

We are so blessed to have the loving family all around us as our babies get bigger every day. What beautiful lights they are for these little ones to follow…

indeed.

What about you? Do you have a favorite Aunt or Uncle?

Happy National Aunt’s and Uncle’s day!
