The Dreadful Windowsill

Once upon a time there was an ugly windowsill. No, no–I mean a seriously UGLY windowsill. It was so ugly that it even made the plants sad–as you can see.

People said, “sand it.” People said, “paint it.” People said, “sand it and then paint it.”

Problem is, I’m not much of a sand it or paint it girl.

Being a resourceful soul, I remembered that there isn’t much that can’t be improved with a hook and some colored string.

So I grabbed my most beautiful pink yarn….

and got cracking!

I even found some variegated yarn that completely matched the sink curtains!

Of course, there was no pattern for this crazy project. There was, however, plenty of measuring, and setting, and pulling out and starting over going on. I had to get a little creative to accommodate that fancy corner.

I used a crossed double crochet stitch–because it’s cute and bumpy and will be forgiving and dry quickly when the plant waterer spills now and then. Ha.

It worked best to do a row in the back stitch so that it would fold perfectly over the edge of the sill.

I love how it changes and brightens up the whole dang room!

Even the plants are happy!!

Face Time From Afar!

While listening to a session of Conference these two sweethearts called from Paris! Holy smokes–the Eifel Tower to be exact.

It was choppy.

It was fuzzy.

It was a little hard to hear.

But mostly, it was glorious and waaaay too short!

Travel safely my loves and come home soon!

love, love, love…

…mom to you. Heh, heh.

Conference Like Never Before

April and October General Conference are a HUGE favorite at our house.  But this year we had a little extra fun, on top of the usual!!  I got to spend the Saturday sessions with Dane and Kortney and the kids. It was positively wonderful.

It’s been so lovely having these guys back with us. And I finally, finally got brave enough to drive clear out to their house BY MYSELF. I know, I know–what a baby, right? Well, I did it.

Take that Eagle Mountain! HA! I’m not scared of you anymore!

Being with my sweet family. Eating luscious food. Listening to the prophets speak. It’s perfect, I tell you.

So many beautiful, loving moments…

of pure… Heaven.

The Wanderers Revisited

Well, out of the clear blue sky…ok, not really–but it felt like it–all these lucky ducks hopped on a few planes and ended up in EUROPE!!

They were very clever about the rooming situation–all the girls in one room and all the boys in another. Adorable–right?

It will be so much fun getting once-in-a-lifetime photos from these guys every few days.

Next time…so help me…I’m going with them!!! I mean honestly, how else will I find my Scottish Farmer? Hmmmmm?

Guess I have some work to do.

Yikes.
