A Big Sister’s Love

When Miss K saw that her little sister’s birthday was coming up–she came up with a pretty dang clever idea. She decided to make a doll–all by herself. She even covered it with tape and “stuffed” it with cotton. Miss K put a lot of work into her masterpiece.

The very fact that she thought this up herself was amazing to me! What a creative gift for her baby sister.  I’m glad we got pictures because I have a feeling that this little treasure won’t last long in the hands of a one year old!

But that’s ok. We’ll all remember the love for a long, long time.

Crocheted Nativity 2.0

No, noooo. I’m not reposting my sweet little crocheted Nativity set. And noooo you aren’t seeing double.  My daughter Lyndi wanted her very own version so naturally, I made another set!!

This time, Mary’s hair is more blonde and Joseph has a goatee and no mustache. He’s a more modern fellow. Haha.

But since Mary and Joseph’s wardrobe that night is a history mystery–I have complete freedom to use my artistic license. Last time it was pink and brown but THIS time, since Lyndi realllllly loves blue, then blue it is.

So there.

Of course, baby Jesus is the same…because, you know– some things should probably stay the same, “yesterday, today and forever,” if you get my meaning. Not tempting fate here.

And so it is.

Summery Autumn “Paper” Chain

You know that funny place where Summer is pretty much done, kids are back to school, everybody is ready for Autumn…

but the weather isn’t quite playing along yet?

Yeah, that’s where we are now. Too breezy and cool to actually swim, but then, the next day it’s 230 degrees on the porch.

Mother Nature make up your MIND already!!

So, as to not feel thwarted in my desire to decorate accordingly, the colors that felt to me like this middle space between the hot days and Halloween– I came up with these.

Maroon and lavender and deep green and a variegated mixture of them all. Clever–yes? It kinda looks like a bright, yet ready-for-Fall-ish sort of concoction, don’t you think?

At any rate, it makes me smile.

So go ahead Mother Nature–do your thing. I’ve found my color “happy place” in spite of you.

And we can stay here comfortably till the leaves come down.

Trouble In The Castle

Everyone knows that being a princess is hard work.  Too many frogs. Too many ball gowns. Too many rules.

And then there’s that pesky crown that won’t stay straight. Sometimes it’s all just too, too much!

Then again, perhaps with a little tweak here or there…

and a bit of balancing this way and that…

the princess can find her special way of doing things that speaks to her very own soul.

Then there will be joy in the kingdom.

Our Poor Hobbes

This little fellow may look sort of ok, but this was 2 days after he was  hit by a car. We didn’t actually see the accident but Rhen saw him out in the street…looking like he’d been run over.

Rhen ran out to get him but when he got close enough to pick him up, Hobbes just bolted and ran into the backyard. We searched for him for 4 hours without any luck.

We finally found him in the farthest corner of the basement–curled up in a ball and hiding out. I didn’t dare go to him–because he gets feisty with me when he’s scared or hurt.  But Rhen went right up and started petting him. The poor guy could hardly raise his head but started purring.

He seemed to be banged up mostly on his head–kinda like he had run into the car–rather than the car running into him. If that makes sense.

I called all kinds of vets to see if they could help but they all said that if he was moving around and didn’t have any broken bones, then he’d likely be ok.

Sure hope so, poor guy.
