Afternoon Tea

I sent Miss Chompy into the house with the last Fall picking of our sweet little berries. But –she and her imaginary friends had a tea party and somehow…somehow…they were all gobbled up. I think she said something about a wolf.

Figures.

Moral of the story:

Be extra careful who you trust with the berry basket

OR

You’ll be having canned peaches for dessert tonight.

Being “The Bald Kid”

When the Bald Kid was in 8th grade, he decided to shave his head–as a joke–for the last day of school. He liked it so much that he kept it shaved for the next 5 years.

People asked me if he’d been sick and all his hair fell out, or if he was in the army or something–all the time. I’d have to tell them that he was just a kid and he was healthy as a horse, but that he just liked having no hair. It was a certain look he was going for, I guess.

For him, the look meant basketball shorts, huge T-shirts, colored high tops…and being bald.

Always…and everywhere.

What I didn’t know, however, was that he was becoming quite well known for his…look. So well known, in fact, that when Halloween came around…

one of his good friends came to school, dressed up…

as HIM–

shaved head and all!

“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” or in this case, a good excuse to shave your head.

Silly, silly boys.

Apple Oatmeal Muffins

I admit–there are some really crazy things going on around here. Wheat grinding, label reading, brown rice boiling, sugar shunning—I tell you, it’s frightening. I mean, it’s almost like, everyone in the house is trying to focus on becoming more healthy…all at the same time. I know, when does that happen? Creepy, right?

Well, it’s not only true, but we’re actually having an ok time with it besides. Oh, there’s a bit more work than just ripping open a box, certainly. But with all of us on the same page, it’s actually…fun. And I believe that the reason it’s fun is that anything hard to do becomes easier when you don’t have to do it alone.

Those are either incredibly wise words or my new codependent motto. Either way.

Now, please don’t be afraid when you see this really healthy, actually good for your recipe. I swear, it tastes great too. You must trust me on this.

In fact, I bet your kids will even eat these yummy things–and have no earthly idea that it’s…kind of…like…you know…health food.

Joke’s on them.

Ahhh…Logan

Sometimes we have “official business” to take care of in Logan–the sweet little town 2 hours north of our place.

And sometimes the only official business is finding the most beautiful raspberries in the State–and buying them two flats at a time.

This time was a mix–April had some fun “official” places to go and I’m always up for the drive…and the raspberries.

We always visit the “cookie store” when we’re in town because it borderlines criminal behavior…not to. We got off easy this time though because it wasn’t a cookie day. Today was Parmesan Goldfish day so we each grabbed a bag–for the kids and got out of there with our lives. Sometime I’m going to figure out when Milano day is…THEN there’ll be trouble.

We took turns saying, “Can we just live here?” about twenty times in the first couple of hours. It would be perfect–just enough town, just enough country.

~sigh~

We made a new discovery this time around…a truly wicked discovery. Let’s just say that the next stop was for dry ice–lots of dry ice.  :}

Gossner’s Cheese store grabbed us next–and I think we behaved very, very well for a couple of cookie, Creamie, cheese freaks.

Someone should be clapping for us.

Speaking of well behaved–the little dudes were pretty darn good sports as we drove merrily along in one of our favorite, beautiful places.

Yeah…pretty sure I love this town.

For the Holidays~

If you’ve spent much time at all with us here–then it’s quite likely, you know that I’m crazy about these little finger puppets from WeeKnit.

I’m so nuts, in fact that I use them for all the Gracious Rain Premiers. I can’t help myself. I LOVE THEM!!

But it’s not just me–Miss Chompy loves them too–and I can prove it–right HERE.

So, of course, I’m freaking out over all the adorable holiday sets…

well, at least the ones that I don’t already have.

Heh, heh.

So, if I were you–I would whip right on over there and grab some of these cuties up–just in time for Christmas. Oh, and if you use the coupon code “GRain10” you’ll even get 10% off your order–just because you’re a Gracious Rain reader. Hurry though–this offer is good until October 15th.

See–it pays to know people…

especially, clever people.
