Bags …and Bags… and Bags

In my world, there are just plain a ton of tote bags. I buy them nearly every time I conscientiously do my grocery shopping. I could store some of them out in the garage, but alas–it’s too late. Instead of taking them back to the store to help bag up my next purchase…

I accidentally, without meaning to, store my valuables in them–you know, in case I need to make a break for it sometime. I’m pretty much packed up and ready to go.

This bundle is for the next gorgeous Granny Square that I’m working on–and that I’ll show you very soon. :}

These springy colors–vanilla, pistachio and strawberry are for a new afghan that I’ll be starting very soon…for the next one of my children who decides to run off and get married. Ha! I’m totally prepared.

This bag holds the lovely colors that are going into a quilting project that I’ll share as soon as it is finished percolating in my head.

The idea with all these bags is that I can easily grab one and sling it over my arm and then I have a constructive pastime no matter where I end up. It almost doesn’t matter which one I choose because they all have the hooks, the yarn, the scissors and the pattern to allow my fingers to flit away at a moment’s notice.

And believe me, they do.

What about you? Do you have a favorite take-along project?

Aaaaaahhhh!

So I step into the bathroom a couple of days ago and happened to glance over at the tub. And what do I see?

What the heck?!

How’d that get in here?! THERE’S A MOUSE IN THE BATHTUB!!

Now, I’m not a goofy, irrational screech-er about mice or anything, but this itty bitty fellow did startle me. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen one in the house. I mean, for Pete’s sake–that’s what we have cats for!

Good grief.

They are suppose to guard us against this sort of thing. Honestly.

And then to think that mousey here just fell out of the ceiling or something and landed in the tub. That adds a new dimension to my peaceful, calming shower routine. Imagine me at 7 am—with soap in my eyes, shampoo in my hair and…

and…

…and…

a teeny, tiny baby mouse on my head!! AAAAAAaaaaaahhh!!!!

I sense incredible potential for becoming a screamer on the horizon. I can see it very clearly in fact.

You, my friend, are fired. Clean out your desk.

I’m moving to Sparta.

A Penance Giveaway

So yesterday, I totally did a Saturday “Simple Smile” post…on Tuesday. It was an accident, I tell you. I sincerely thought it was Saturday. I know, I know, I’m in a time warp. It can’t be explained except to say–wait until you’re MY age and see if you can always keep things straight…

like what day it is.

So to make up for my ridiculous behavior yesterday, we’re going to have an incredible giveaway of some of my most favorite things in the entire world…

Cookbooks!!

And not just any cookbooks–but a scrumptious set that I found at JoAnn Fabrics with nearly edible photographs. No kidding. I picked up the “Pies” one first…

then saw the “Cookies” one behind it. Needed that one too.

Then when I moved that one, “Baking Made Simple” was at the back and it was calling to me.

What could I do?

I bought them all. I kept thinking, “these would make a wonderful giveaway…” but the longer I  carried them around the store, the closer I held them to my heart and then the tighter my grubby little fingers clutched onto them.

My thoughts changed a bit to “Actually I neeed these cookbooks to add to my collection of 65,000 back at home.” It was a sad sight indeed–such greedy behavior from a grown woman. Honestly.

So this post is a sort of penance giveaway, to prove to myself that I can actually share…

whether I want to or not.

And to make up for yesterday.

I could have sworn it was Saturday.

Sheesh.

PS~ Leave a comment on this post telling me if you’ve ever made a recipe from Gracious Rain. If yes, which one? If not, tell me one that you’d like to try and I’ll try not to be too hurt about it.

Then, poof! You’ll be entered in the giveaway. I’ll announce the winner on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:00 am.
