My Personal Trainer

100 Happy Days #19

009

I have a nice little workout routine that I try my best to do each morning. First I have a set of limbering exercises designed to strengthen my joints and muscles. Then, I usually walk on the treadmill for about 25 minutes. Granted, I don’t always accomplish everything that I’d like to every single morning, but you know…things get in the way now and then. But I do try.

Miss Chompy must have thought that I wasn’t working quite hard enough the other day, because while I was walking she was busy drawing a book for me…

of new exercises.

She said, “When you’re done with all that stuff you’re doing, I have a book of more work you can do. The pictures will show you how.”

Then she left me to get back to work.

Good thing I took my vitamins this morning.

Cause you know~ working with a trainer is tough business.

Heh, heh, heh.

Tending For the Girlie

100 Happy Days #17

001

Miss Chompy came up the other day and asked if I would take care of her birds for a while…cause she had “stuff to do.” I said, “Sure, kiddo.” She emptied her pocket and these are the little friends she left with me. So we have a tipsy crow, a blown glass purple bird, a tiny guy missing his tail and his mom who appears to have no tail or wings. Needless to say, it was an easy tending job and not one birdy soul was inclined or capable of flying off. Pretty happy about that.

My favorite tending jobs are the kind you can do while taking a nap.

Boatload Trail Mix

100 Happy Days #16

001 - Copy

Long, long ago, when I had a house full of youngsters, and I had a Costco card of my very own and enough money and inclination to shop for my voracious children–I would often buy that big industrial size bag of Trail Mix. It would seriously last about two days–and that’s if I hid it.

I haven’t actually brought one of those bags home in a long time because our numbers have dwindled and it wasn’t exactly cheap. So I got to thinking the other day, “just how hard could it possibly be to make my own trail mix?” I mean, really–it has like three ingredients and from what I could tell, somebody just dumped them in the bag together, and shook them around. Heck, I can do that.

So, the Bald Guy and I went to Winco and zipped over to the bulk section. Here’s where it got fun because…well, I had no idea there were so many different kinds of raisins–never mind all the other dried stuff. I got a bit carried away. As I bagged up the regular raisins, then golden raisins, then ruby raisins and moved quickly to currents and dried cranberries I heard my cute boy saying, “Ahhhh, mom–those are some big bags.”  I ignored him. It was for the best.

Next came salted peanuts–a busload, and one measly bag of M&Ms. What we ended up hauling out to the car was quite laughable, really. Especially when you think that the reason I didn’t buy the Costco kind was because the bag was too big and it cost too much. Yeeehaaa. We won’t talk about what all that cost, but I”ll tell you this-

it took two of my dad’s BIG (not kidding here) bowls to mix it up and nine gallon Ziploc bags to store it. It was lovely stuff. And it made me dang happy.

And fear not…I shared…with a boatload of fine people.

Partly because I’m very kind and generous….

but mostly because I wanted the world to think I made that much on purpose.

:} Heh, heh.

Audience With the Princess

100 Happy Days #15

Perhaps it’s cheating to have my “happy days” photo be from a few months back–but I’ll defend myself by saying that I found these pictures today–and I smiled because they were just so much fun. Here’s the deal~

I came upstairs one morning a while back and found that Miss Chompy had lined up every pony, every Strawberry Shortcake person, every Carebear and well…every single mythical, magical creature that she could get her hands on…

007

not just on the banister, but on the chairs and across the floor. I took as many pictures as I could, but the best shots that explain it all–didn’t turn out. (My camera skills are somewhat lacking…still)

When I asked the girlie what was up with all her critter friends she looked at me like I had a blue face and said,

“Wellllll, Grammy–they’re in a big long line…

to see Princess Celestia.

And they’re going to have to wait a long, long time…

because she talks a lot.”

My kinda gal.

Monkey Biz

100 Happy Days #14

001Our littles are really enjoying the Curious George cartoons that are on Netflix these days. It is a soft, gentle, sometimes even a bit mushy show and I like it much more than I thought I would. But I confess–I love Miss Chompy’s picture of little George even more. A ton more, in fact.

Tell me, if you can, that this doesn’t make you happy too?
