Farmer’s Market

I imagine that you know by now that we–our whole family–has quite a thing for Farmer’s Markets.  We positively LOVE them.

This is the peach guy–a personal favorite of mine…see that box on the end there? Oh, it’s on my table right this minute.

And the tie-dye lady was wonderful–all those beautiful colors. I needed a picture of that pink and purple thingy–so I could remember it…always.

We got Chompy a pretty little dress from there and she was very excited to NOT show it to anyone.

Miss Lily got her face painted…

with a perfect Rapunzel crown.

And the honey girl gave us samples of her Pumpkin Flower Honey…so we needed that too. WHAT?

There was a cantaloupe lady, a garlic dude, and a bread man but I was too busy staring at everything to get a picture of it all.

The little folks had a perfect ride in a real (ahem) covered wagon.

I fell in love with the soap lady’s stuff. Honey, Brown Sugar, Rose and even a slice of Coffee soap–which, I hear, will take onion or fish or garlic scent off your hands. Cool.

Asiago Bread—

peaches…

and honey. Can you tell what we’re having for supper?

That is…if we can stay awake long enough.

In Desperate Need…

…of these.

A whole busload, if you please.  You see, I’m having a craving for raspberry jam–the real stuff, not the—ahem—store bought kind.…if you get my drift.

So, I’m on a raspberry quest today–and I shan’t be thwarted.

I’ll let you know how it goes. Oh, and if you happen to see a crazy woman flying past as a red blur in the valley today—don’t be afraid…it’s just me.

I suggest you scoot out of the way.

:} Heh, heh…

Right Now

I am…

~wishing I was just a bit younger so I could play “dodge the sprinkler” with Miss Chomp on a hot summer day.

~anticipating all the magical things that can be made with a few old T-shirts…stick around and you’ll see!

~grateful that my children still find joy and friendship in a really good book.

~loving the very idea of fresh-from-the-garden cucumbers drizzled with a mix of Italian and Ranch dressing. You must try it!

~looking soo-soo forward to the new little ladies who are coming to live with us soon…stay tuned.

~longing for a bit more rain to water all the places I haven’t gotten to this week.

~deciding NOT to let Beany-the-quail-slayer out for the night…for obvious reasons.

Yeah, he’s on time-out.

~happy that my cute little–or not so little–nephew is home from Russia and that he’s amazed that Pizza Hut still exists and will still bring real, live American pizza right to your door.

~waiting, and waiting for a letter–paper in my hand letter–from my far away in Siberia boy–whose going to be in so much trouble if he doesn’t write to his mother very soon…and I mean it.

~marveling at the many newly discovered uses for a toddler cup holder.

~hoping that you too have a wonderful weekend my friends!

Sub-Lime Fruit Sherbet

You know we don’t go very long, around here, in the summer without making a batch of SOME kind of ice cream. Well, this one was actually a bit of an accident–to be honest. We were happily preparing to make our scrumptious Peach Sherbet when we realized that we didn’t have any peach jello. Huge crisis. Wow. Severe lack of preparation skills. Well, being the sturdy mountain women that we were we bravely forged ahead and use lime Jello…instead.

Oh.My.Word.

It was fabulous–and so we began to daydream about what it would be like with, say… pineapple, or mandarin oranges, or raspberries even. You’ll have to try a different fruit and let us know if it tastes as lovely in real life as it does in my imagination.

Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

Sub-Lime Fruit Sherbet

Ingredients

1- 6 oz. package Lime jello

2 cups sugar

4 cups water

2 cans diced peaches, pineapple, or mandarins

2 cups syrup from canned fruit

2 cup whipping cream
