One Good Book
I have had this book on my shelves for nearly 50 years–but never read it. Since Caddie Woodlawn fit snugly into one of the categories in my reading challenge, after alllll these years…I finally picked it up.
Oh, my goodness–was it ever my kind of book. The ending and several other chapters actually made me cry.
Imagine my surprise to find that cute little, red headed Caddie was a real girl…
who lived in a beautiful white house in Wisconsin…
with her father and mother and all her brothers and sisters.
I’m a tactile soul and so I’d love to go to the house and walk through it some day…see it and touch it.
I have no earthly idea why this kind of thing makes me so happy.
It just does.
The Reading Challenge
We have the cutest little used book store in Provo.
Every year, they have a reading challenge. The idea is that you read a book from each category…
and check them off as you go along.
There are 40 topics to check off and yes, that IS a ton of books to read in one year.
But if you are able to read the forty books and check off each of the boxes in a year’s time–they will give you a $50 gift certificate….
to buy MORE books!! Woooohoooo!!!!
Honestly now, if somebody close by is going to offer free books just for READING books, wellllllll….
I think it’s fair to say…
I’m IN!
Twenty-one down…
nineteen to go.
