Heart Fireworks

Our “Little Miss” Fluttershy was really sad that because of the fires in Utah right now the Governor put a ban on all personal fireworks.

We could still watch the displays that were put on by the city, just not actually light any ourselves. The ground is too hot and dry and the firemen are working over the mountain to put out what is already burning.

This little gal decided, that rather than fuss about it–she was going to do something about it instead.

So this clever girl worked all day long making personal, home-made fireworks for every single member of our family!! Honestly now–isn’t this the most adorable thing you’ve ever seen?!

This will be a treasured keepsake to remind us all of the Independence Day that we had the sweetest fireworks in history, without lighting a single match.

Fireworks truly from the heart.

Thank you Little Miss…I’ll keep it forever.

Our Flag..At Last

While sitting in the foyer at church today I was positively THRILLED to see that we finally had an American flag hanging on the flag pole again.

We haven’t had one in a long time because there are rules about leaving a flag up without a light on it. So according to the Bishop, one of the sweet guys in our ward arranged to have a spot light attached to the roof of the church that will shine on it at night.

I’m sure people thought I was nuts taking a bunch of pictures of a flag but honestly, it made my little sentimental, partriotic heart so happy! Then, I noticed the second flag hanging below the American one. I tried hard to make out what it was but I couldn’t really tell.

Until…

just enough of a breeze came along and opened it up.

Though I didn’t get a perfect picture of the flag completely unfurled…I saw exactly what it said.

“One Nation Under God.

250 Years of Freedom”

What a perfect gift.

Happy Birthday America!!

Things I’m Loving…

right this minute…

Getting Tarmac the House Squirrel’s clothes cleaned and pressed for July.

Finding my long, lost spool of twine that I bought ages ago, to fix the cat tree and then promptly…lost.

A lunch-lady Peanut Butter Bar and a Snickerdoodle from Lyndi’s Sunday Cookie Walk. Yum!!

Getting a billion Fetch points from one shopping trip.

Making Cheesy Egg Bake for breakfast and wrapping the rest to freeze and have later. Yum again.

Watching a master quilter at work. April fascinates me.

Cinnamon rolls…any day…any time…any way. Yum for the third time. This is apparently a food post. Yikes.

Finally finding dye free sprinkles for the 4th of July!! I’ve been searching for a million years!

A truely gorgeous night sky captured in all it’s awesomeness by Jillian. So beautiful.

What about you? What are you loving right this minute?

Patriotic Bunting 2

The first Patriotic Bunting that I made a few years ago was fine…cute even.  But this one is soooo much better. Not so….

boring.

I particularly love the little white buttons. A lot more work but worth it.

I originally made the old one for me, before I knew any better. Then while perusing Pinterest one day I came across this pretty little pattern.  I was smitten.

I promptly whipped one up for Dane because when he saw it, he was smitten too and asked me to make him one.

Then, Jillian said, “Well if that’s all we have to do to get you to make cool stuff for us, then I’m asking too!”

As you can plainly see…

it worked like a charm.

The Good Citizen

Today was a local election day in Utah. I like to do these things right, so I studied the candidates and chose the ones that want to do what I want them to do. That’s how it works in my brain.

Then I started reading the “fine print” so to speak. It wasn’t really fine print but honestly it was a bunch of stuff I admit, I’ve never paid much attention to.

First, it said my signature was required. I’m good with that. I have the same signature that I’ve had since high school, so there. It wanted other sundry stuff–last four numbers of my SS# and email and phone. No big deal.

There is a ton of funny business going on in the world these days with reguards to who can and who cannot vote and about being able to mail in your ballot…that sort of thing. For some odd reason there seems to be a lot of controversy about it all.

If you just read the document, it says straight up–be who you say you are. Don’t vote if you have no business voting. To do otherwise is a FELONY.

They use the word FELONY a LOT.

Seems pretty clear to me.

Behave yourself and do it the right way. If you don’t you really can’t whine if you get in trouble for it.

The rules are pretty dang clear.

It’s simple.

Sheesh.

Now go vote!!
