Summerfest 2021

Ohhhhh, Summerfest, how we’ve missed you!!

At last, at last we got to come back–after a silly year of lockdowns (boo)– and put out our blankets for all the festivities that were positively banned a year ago!!

We’ve been celebrating this day since my kids were the kids.

I’ve always believed that the best part of this whole June day is sitting in a lawn chair surrounded by the people I adore.

One Nation Under God…Still

I’m paying particular attention to the American flags flying these days. It seems like it means more to me that it has in times past. I’ll see one on a car or in a window or hanging in someone’s yard and I smile to myself. It kinda feels like a subtle wink or nod from a stranger. Like maybe we’re on the same page and feeling particularly sentimental and just a bit more patriotic all of a sudden.

Start noticing them all and smile with me– will you? Because even though, some days it feels like the whole world is going absolutely nuts–I know deep down that the Lord has his hand in all this. And I also know that everything is going to be alright.

I promise.

Hand on heart.

Ohhhh…look! I picked up this sweet baby and cuddled them while I taught my online class and the next thing I know—ZZZZzzzzzzz……

They are the cutest little things. We have two like this one…

And two of the full tigers. But for now…

I have no idea if they are girls or boys. It’s actually very hard to tell with kittens until they’re about 8 weeks old.

In the meantime…we’ll just keep calling them white face, half white and the stripey twins.

They don’t seem to care one bit.
