Soft, Sweet, Sugar Cookies
 
 
Ingredients
  • ⅔ cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, beat butter on medium speed for 30 seconds.
  3. Add sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Beat until combined, scraping side of bowl occasionally.
  5. Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla until combined.
  6. Beat in flour.
  7. Divide dough in half.
  8. If necessary, cover and chill about 30 minutes or until dough is easy to handle.
  9. On a lightly floured surface, roll half of the dough at a time until ¼ inch thick.
  10. Cut dough into desired shapes.
  11. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  12. Bake for 8 to 9 minutes or until edges are firm and bottoms are very lightly browned.
  13. Transfer to a wire rack; cool.
  14. Ice with your favorite frosting.
